HEY! I'm new here!

It's taken me a long time to admit that I have a problem with PM. Ever since I was 13 I have been viewing porn on the internet which started out with naked pics of celebrities and progressed more into hardcore porngraphy, especially since high speed internet and free tube sites which has made it easily acessible. I am now 36 and I think the 23 years has taken its toll on me. I'm lucky that my addiction hasn't progressed into something more terrible and that my use of porngraphy has been limited to the majority of that viewed by heterosexual men. I thought I was doing no harm by accessing this content but it has taken me a long time to realise that I had been using this as self medication to hide negative feelings. I've been using it to escape reality. I have been seeing a counsellor over the past 2 years to discover this addiction with porn. So here is my post to commit to ending my relationship with porn. I know this journey isn’t going to be easy through recent streaks of abstinence, but I know this will end in a positive outcome if I remain committed. I want to share with people my journey of ups and downs along the way and I hope in doing this it will provide me with motivation to remain committed.

My aim is to stay away from P AND M but I do feel that M on it's own is acceptable given it is done during self-love (without fantasizing over porn) rather than during anger or the masking of feelings. I want to be open to feedback from the NoFap community as well as contributing anywhere I can from my own experiences.
