So. It's midnight here, I should probably make this as brief as possible so I can get to sleep. I'm twenty-one years old and I've got a long history with porn use. I've been trying to recover for a while now but I relapsed twice today and it's gotten to this point where I can't even muster up the energy to be angry with myself anymore I'm just desperate to break this habit, so this time when I hit the recovery reset button I figured I should do something I've never tried before; reach out to other people, and this seemed like a good place to start. So, here I am. (my username is a reference to The Last Unicorn btw, if there are any fans of that book here)
Hi, welcome on this platform. I am a newby too here. You did the right thing, reaching out to other people, to this community. I understand what you are going through, as I am going through a similar jungle of porn (ab)use. I have a pattern and a history of porn abuse and I desperately want to get rid of it. Forever! And I also reach out for the people in this community. Very important is to understand what is going on in your brain, what your addiction is about. Only when you understand this (in my opinion) you can positively fight this very strong addiction. Otherwise, the danger of relapse, and another relapse, is always waiting behind a bush to capture you. And then you feel guilty or even angry with yourself again, which you shouldn't. You are a human being, not a robot. Be considerate with yourself, get up on your feet again (after a relapse) and start over and over again. Get support from the people in this community. And read as much as possible to understand about your brain wanting dopamines all the time.
