How to continue living life without being overwhelmed with urges

Discussion in 'Abstinence, Retention, and Sexual Transmutation' started by Gayspiritwarrior, Apr 28, 2021.

  1. Hi guys

I'm fairly new to this, but really curious about cutting out masturbation completely after masturbating all of my adult life. I like the idea of it and I'm sold on the benefits, but come on, is it even possible? Has anyone actually done it? Isn't masturbation normal and healthy anyway? How on earth are you supposed to concentrate on your work or sleep properly when cutting out masturbation (and hence orgasm, without a sexual partner) just leads to uncontrollable urges and raging erections?

I just would like to hear about how on earth someone is supposed to overcome that. Having tried it a few times, it seems impossible! I'm starting to feel a bit sceptical of it all.

Any suggestions for a sexual transmutation 101???

    Thanks

If one suffers from diarrhoea, first thing to do is STOP EATING THE BAD FOOD.

Cut off all your contacts from porn or live cam apps.

    Now comes the real part.
Urges exist because of 2 reason -
    1. Intense hardwiring due to repetitive behaviour.
    2. Due to extra built up energy inside, you can do activities like excercise, solving problem or even dedicating yourself 100% to the work in order to release the energy.

    Start meditation. Go spiritual.
After that start watching the urges, and try to keep distance.
Sometimes it may happen that urges get really bad and are painful (mostly psychological). Let that pass, you stay just like that. For a Very strong urge to pass, it may take few minutes to even days, also in some cases took weeks to get head off from that thing.
It doesn't matter. Just don't repeat the behaviour no matter how tempting it gets or how painful urges are.

If not then no one can pull you out of this swamp.

Also cut off entirely the concept of so-called healthy sexual behaviour.
It's time for you to reboot.
Your gun fires equally well, if not better after a much needed reboot.
For the time being behave like a celibate. When I say celibate I don't mean be paranoid of girls, but to bring an understanding that Hey, it's time for a break. Enough of all this. Let's see the other aspect of life.

  4. I believe it's possible and I believe it will take a lot of work and a willingness to be uncomfortable; a resignation to suffering. This seems to be the great paradox of life in that there exists only two choices.
    1. Reward now, suffer later.
    2. Suffer now, reward later.

  5. Thanks all, that's helpful. I've also done a lot of work in trying to nail down my 'why', which has been helpful for my motivation. Things seem to be a lot easier on my second streak, a bit like I've made a psychological shift.

I can attest that this is true. Yet there are some healthy short term rewards most healthy pleasures are long term
