I thought this site was a joke until a friend told me about it

  1. Title relevant. I have been a long time pmo fapper since I was very young (around 12-13 y/o). I always felt hopeless about actually beating my addiction, so I tried to just limit it to once per day. I used drugs and nicotine, was in therapy for major depressive disorder, and I had an increasing habit which I had no hope of ever beating. Then my friend told me about nofap and talked to me seriously about it. I had never talked to anyone about my problems about it because I was so ashamed of my habit. We talked, and with some encouragement I made it two weeks without pmo. I have been struggling with fighting this issue for years and now I finally have hope I can beat it. I know it won't be easy, but I would rather deal with the pain of withdrawal then deal with the problems this addiction has caused me.
If any of you are parents or want to be parents, be prepared to set up blockers for your kids. You cant trust them to understand the dangers of what they are viewing. The internet is a great resource and a tool, but also a source for addiction, and not just for porn.

  2. Yup. Often times the things you get addicted to take years to fruck you up. So while you are in the thick of it all, you don't see anything wrong. But over time, you begin to realise the true cost of such fleeting pleasures and then you find that you are trapped in a vicious cycle.

So when you are out, it seems a joke, and when you are trapped in middle of it, it becomes a monstrous reality.

  3. Nobody in society seems to want to take pmo addiction seriously except the people who have dealt with it themselves. Its treated more as a joke. The DSM-V doesn't even classify porn addiction as a problem or disorder. But they will classify video gaming addiction(also serious problem) as a disorder.
