Can PMO be used in a "healthy" way or does it always lead to addiction?

I doubt it will ever be, we always find a way to abuse stuff, even those things good for us.

Though I would compare your question to "Can Cocaine be used in a healthy way?", but Cocaine and PMO are two different things, and both can have bad effects to our lives.

We must be realistic here and say that it definitely can be healthy. PMO is a bit different than straight drugs. But if you have been addicted to PMO, going back to do it will just cause problems. It's honestly not worth it.

  5. I have to agree with the other guy as humans are bound to abuse things. So in that case it is not healthy. You contribute to misogyny and the degradation of human life when you engage in PMO. It is absolutely not healthy.

So many claims in this statement. "humans are bound to abuse things, so therefore its not healthy" You cannot possibly be serious. You might aswell stop eating because you might abuse it.

Also How the fuck is orgasms and masturbation Misogynistic and degrading to humans? i can see how extreme porn fits that definition but Get outa here with the other two. and btw porn isnt the problem its the addiction to it and overconsumption. Just like how alcohol isnt the problem, it's overconumption and a bag of other factors that cause someone to rely on it like depression and other mental issues.

PMO , only healthy part in that acronym is orgasm , with your wife is healthy in my book. Porn messes with your head and its degrading to even have that in your technological devices , masturbation drains man of his most vital fluid (semen ) .

You cannot posibly believe that masturbation is an unhealthy act. Porn is just videos of people participating in sexual activities. It is not unhealthy. It's what you do with it that makes it then become something not healthy for you personally. Like overconsumption and addiction.

Well we all are free how to consider PMO, whether it be healthy or not, whether we abuse it or not, it depends on how it affects the person's life.

Here is the crunch. The Fapstronaut wants to say no to porn because of its addictive properties. From the addict/ nofap perspective is has to be a zero tolerance policy... just like alcohol for the alcoholic. Here's the rub - many in the mainstream use porn and argue that it is not addictive.... just like alcohol. It is the perspective of the non-addict. Now if I was once an addict... and then became an ex-addict... despite the naysayers.. does that mean I could become a 'recreational' user. To nip this in the bud, I have to think that over and above the health issues, porn is morally wrong. And I would say the same thing to the non-addicted consumer of porn. It is morally and ethically wrong.

  11. That type of mindset could keep someone addicted.

The parallel exists between porn and alcohol only insofar as they are addictive. But it breaks down when you look at it from the mainstream. Alcohol is fine in moderate amounts..... but you don't want to say the same thing about porn. It seems fundamentally vicious. And if you think/ feel this way, you are compelled to look for moral grounds of why this should be so.

I am being perfectly serious. This whole pussy footing around is starting to piss me

  15. I don't see any healthy benefits from pmo. P itself is already dehumanizing, so watching it could never be healthy, imo. Ming I see as being completely useless, and Oing I find healthy when it's used to bond with another real person with a real connection (love).

I think masturbation is unhealthy and I think my belief of this is inherent. Society tries to convince us that it is healthy and good for you along with tons of other poisonous shit.

How the hell does anyone think it's "healthy"? Sex isn't healthy either you get STDs from it unless both partners are monogamous. Your fucking yourself and squirting out vital nutrients. I feel like absolute shit and drained after an orgasm. Feels anything but healthy. Porn is feeding that addict part of the brain getting off on an unhealthy rush.

Most addicts will convince themselves that their poison isn't so bad or even that it is good.

I agree with this Buzz Lightyear guy.

With drugs, or anything that's harmful, in the words of my dead Uncle, "It's better to be clean than to ever have done it"

Doing something once can get you hooked, and then it goes down this big gateway to harm. Masturbation is just a gateway drug to doing porn. And it drains a man of his most vital substance, semen.
Orgasm is only worth it to me being shared with a romantic partner. Only with one you trust enough to marry. Have sex a little before then, it can mess things up, because you two haven't fully formed a lasting bond yet, therefore doing the opposite of bonding trust, it ruins it and instead leads to anxiety and what not, and it also can allow the other person to just use you for sex.

Anyway, back about porn and masturbation, this is Buzz Lightyears friend Woody before he ever masturbated or watched porn:

But then, after he found some of Andys new porn mags from his college and watched Andy do "stuff" :

It can be pretty serious already, after all we're talking years of a daily (if not more) activity that our body and brain learn to live with, and so they adapt. Neural pathways that make you crave P and/or M can already be so embedded in your behavior that the reboot will produce full-on deprivation effects. Keep in mind, the first iPhone came out in 2007, a couple of years later we had a full blown smartphone market flooding the world, in 2016 there were already phone addicts that went to therapy/rehab to counter/crush their phone addiction and the devastating effects it had on their lives.

The catch is, the Porn stimuli is something that, in nature, was seldom found. A plethora of irresistible shapes, forms, activities and ambience to catter for a civilization's need for the next 1000 years is already present on the web. This is what makes the whole "healthy vs unhealthy" question hard to tackle.

Compare with a bakery that's on your daily walk to your job. Everyday as you go by, you buy a donut. Because you like it, and there's nothing wrong with having one from time to time since you like it. Sometimes you pass by the bakery and not buy one. But everytime you stop, you'd probably buy the same simple donut. (This would be the "healthy" situation).
Now for some reason, the bakery industry has an evil plan, and starts opening shops along your way. A dozen shops. Each shop contains donuts so sugary, colored, varied, weird and yummy, that you progressively try different ones that you find delicious. You shift from buying one once in a while to several everyday, because the bakeries nailed what you like in these and you, for some reason [THIS IS WHERE THE UNHEALTHY KICKS IN], can't (or don't want to) avoid overconsumption. You get fat. Get depressed/sad because you are. Then buy some more "pleasure donuts" to make you feel better. But they mke you fatter. Which makes you feel worse. Etc. We're down to the unhealthy situation, where you've lost control of you consumption, can't gather enough willpower to chose a different route or even think about not going for your "peasure moment".

Healthy vs Unhealthy is definitely a continuum, where everybody's control over consuption's threshold varies. What's healthy for you might be unbearably dangerous for me.

A friend of mine is an alcoholic. Has been for the past 10 years, going from rehab to rehab without finding enough support/enegry to change his life's condition. I can have a whisky and not wanting to drink anything for the rest of the month without suffering from it. When he's getting a whisky, he relapses within the week. Same whisky.
