    Hi,
I've been to doctor today (urologist) and he told me that releasing sperm is healthy for your prostate and not releasing it may lead even to inflamation. Whats your thoughts about it? Do you know any research or doctors that claim NoFap as healthy? I am on pretty long strike (over 60 days) and my plan was to try not to masturbate ever again, but now I am not sure if its a good idea. What do you think?

I was under the impression that the body would find other ways to swap out that sperm.

People really have to stop this "wet dreams are your bodies way of releasing excess sperm" thing. Wet dreams are not caused for that reason and there is no science that backs up that claim. Wet dreams are useless. Your body does not need to ejaculate.

@Phillips if there was a link between not ejaculating and prostate cancer then we would see the highest instances of prostate cancer in celibate individuals, which we don't.

"You see the topic come up over and over again, so let’s be clear: there is no demonstrated relationship between celibacy and risk for prostate cancer"

  4. Why does it matter? Correlation is not causation, so my longest streak information has no relevance to this topic.

    "What causes a wet dream?

A wet dream occurs when you have a sexually arousing dream during sleep, and your body releases semen through ejaculation. During the REM (rapid eye movement) phase of sleep, it’s natural for guys to experience an erection. If you happen to have an arousing dream during this period of sleep, you will sometimes ejaculate.

You may have trouble remembering the dream or feel confused just after you have a wet dream. Some guys wake up because they feel like they are going to wet the bed. This is completely normal and nothing to be embarrassed about!"

Note that excess semen isn't listed as a cause. Hmmm. Oh and sexually arousing dreams happening to abstaining porn addicts?? Who would have thought the people who think about sex the most would have greater instance of nocturnal emmisons as a result of sexually arousing dreams during REM? I for one am shocked.

  5. Wet dreams are nocturnal emissions.

No, the burden of proof is on you since you originally made the claim. Good luck. Also I don't claim to know everything either, I just bother to take the time to research.

I'm not a doctor or an expert in any scientific field, so let me make that point first.

All I can say to what your doctor told you is that there seem to be different medical opinions on that, based on my own reading.

I just researched from one of SOB's links (sorry if you don't prefer the acronym) and I found that sperm that isn't ejaculated are just broken down and recycled into the body. No harm done.
