I came to the nofap forum for accountability. I hoped having a counter and making it public would save me from relapsing to PMO.

I come here and read posts for hours at all hours of the day and all hours of the night to hide from my urges to relapse.

I've merely traded one addiction for another.

I can't sleep properly, have extreme anxiety because I keep fighting off the temptation to go watch porn and succumb to the fetishes I'm trying to escape from.

For the same reason I joined, accountability. By putting out my counter I feel it has contributed tremendously in maintaining my streak.

It is for that reason I announce that I'm leaving the forum at least until my 90 days are up maybe longer.

The way this forum is set up I feel in some ways it manipulates the dopamine system like porn does with the like system. I'm too weak to handle it right now. I find I come here only to seek the approval of others.

I'd say that the church was once quite naïve about the predatory nature of child molesters. Many molesters targeted institutions such as schools and churches in order to gain access to children. They were wolves in sheep's clothing.

Yes, the internet is inherently addictive. I also had to take time out from Nofap a while back for similar reasons to yourself. I see this recovery process as a three-pronged approach:

1] Educate yourself on Nofap etc [which you have done.
2] Positively develop other areas of yourself [which may involve leaving Nofap for a time]
3] Discipline yourself. This may involve coming back to Nofap for the 90 day challenge.

Stage two is an 'Epicurean' phase that I think many are lacking [and why many were susceptible to pornography in the first place]. It involves developing alternative tastes in your life... not to speak of virtue.... it is a process that deals with your inner nature/ passions. In this second stage, I think the back of the addiction can be broken. Stage three super-adds an Stoic discipline of the mind to root out the remaining vestiges of the addiction. Good luck~~
