If you look at the history of Baal-Hammon/ Moloch rituals it seems to be quite similar to the masturbation process....

Lots of pagan deities (and others) were worshiped sexually. Common practice for many years.

Yes! I searched a bit to know more about these rituals and I could find surprising similarities with some characteristics of my addiction

  5. Moloch was a god the ancients sacrificed children to (and probably animals). Asherah was the fertility goddess, the consort of Yahweh.

I do not accept the theoretical conjecture of this historian as definitive. The God of Israel did not have a wife.

  8. Sure, I think Biblical historians are divided over the issue, as you can see from this perhaps more reputable source: http://www.biblicalarchaeology.org/...hweh-and-his-asherah-or-the-egyptian-god-bes/

Here's a source from the same website that falls on the side of the "Asherah Yahweh's consort" argument: http://members.bib-arch.org/publication.asp?PubID=BSBA&Volume=20&Issue=3&ArticleID=4

What's interesting is that, as Taylor makes clear, there is evidence both for an abstract, nonanthropomorphic montheistic understand of Yahweh, the one that Judaism, Christianity and Islam inherited, and the pagan Asherah-consort Yahweh. So at one point in Israel's history both were living side by side. The first community obviously won out, and edited all references to the latter community from scripture.
