Maybe it's time to go to Sex Addicts Anonymous?...

  1. First of all, I want to say that I have absolutely no grievances with the NoFap Forum. If it wasn't for this site and the users on it I would have never realized that I had an addiction to porn, and I would've never sought to quit porn and recover from it. So I want to start off by saying thank you to everyone on here.

Having said that, I feel that it's time to have an honest heart to heart with myself. I've been on this Forum for over a year and am not happy with where I'm at in my recovery. I've continued to relapse time and time again and over the past month or two feel that I'm starting to become dependent on PMO as a way of getting through the day emotionally. I've been having some troubling fantasies and had a very bizarre/strange real life sexual encounter on Halloween that has hurt my pride as a man. It's gotten to the point that when I look in the mirror I can't even recognize myself and am ashamed of what I've become.

I've truly bottomed out in life and am beginning to feel that the online atmosphere of recovery is not what is best for my life. I'm seeking in person help from a therapist but am beginning to wonder if Sex Addicts Anonymous, Sexaholics Anonymous, or any other similar groups would be a beneficial resource to seek out. I've had a phenomenal turnaround lately in Narcotics Anonymous in terms of my use of drugs & alcohol and think that those types of environments are where I function best.

Does anyone have any experience in SAA or any other similar groups? Thanks in advance for the input. This community means so much to me.

  2. Go for it. If Nofap truly isn't working for you then it's best to seek out professional help instead of living this annoying cycle of relapses. What I've noticed is every successful person on this site (ones who reached their huge nofap goal) usually get to that point their own way, whether it be the use of cold showers, getting new hobbies, etc. To beat the addiction, you have to find a path that works best for you. Having said that, if you are more comfortable in the environments you stated, you should certainly stick with them. Doesn't matter what path you choose, just beat the fucking addiction.
