    Hi all.

So while you are on your NOFap journey, do you avoid films with sexually explicit scenes? I mean it's not porn, technically, right? I like films. Mainly foreign films and One in particular I an keen on seeing "The Strange Color of Your Body's Tears". I've been reading reviews and I hear that there a some explicit scenes in it and I've just started my No Orgasm October journey.

Still what do you think? Do you avoid scenes with sex in them or do you just watch them but handcuff your hands behind your back so you don't touch yourself?

Hi. I do not recommend what do you want to do (sorry for my inglish). My advice is that you NOT view scenes of sex of any kind because it may be really hard to not masterbate when you get some sexual excitement. You have to avoid that.

The question all depends on the individual and their specific problem. I've sat and watch several films during recent weeks and didn't feel it was an issue if a sex scene came up, but it's different for other people. As long as it's not pornographic, the problem just isn't there for me.

I sat and watched 'Betty Blue' during my most recent 30 day streak and again, the sex scenes in it weren't a problem for me as I didn't view the scene with me thinking of porn. The sex scenes were just part of a story. It's all a matter of perspective.

This all being said, stay the heck away from music videos as a lot of them nowadays are bordering on being pornographic.

Thackery, I don't understand what you are saying. Could you please elaborate on this paradox: you can watch "a sex scene... as long as it is not pornographic"! How can a sex scene provided for 'entertainment' be anything other than pornographic? Furthermore, I cannot understand the distinction you make between a sex scene in a film and what you see in many music videos - "a lot of them nowadays are bordering on being pornographic" and your unconditional advice is "stay the heck away from music videos"!

It's an interesting one. I discovered the Ghost Whisperer not long before I discovered NoFap and started my challenge. I've avoided that as it involves salivating over JLH's cleavage for hours on end which I figured isn't that healthy. I started watching Orange is the New Black recently as it was highly rated on Netflix and was unaware how racy some of the content is. However it didn't bother me as all the sex scenes were part of the storyline and I didn't really see it as pornographic. I carried on watching and I'm on episode 7 now and it is about the plot and the drama. However if I was watching some crappy indie film that had a rubbish plot but lot's of nudity and I was only watching it for the nudity then I figure that would be a problem.

Interesting topic. Already posted a thread here :

In my opinion, it may be useful at the beginning, but at some point, I'm not saying that you have to trigger yourself just to be sure you're strong enough, but... You can't escape life. Sexually explicit scenes are everywhere on tv, magazines, music clips... So when you see one don't run for your life, just act like it's normal.

This is an interesting topic. I was actually thinking about this for almost a week.

Not all sex scenes will throw me into a tizzy, but occassionally something just hits the right way.

I can watch alot of movies with sexually explicit scenes and not get thrown over the edge. However, I was watching the new Sin City the other night and when the black girl bent over the car to distract the guard I think I must have looked like a mad dog. Something about the way that scene looked redirected my mind in a way that I felt compelled to PMO.

My opinion is that you can probably watch quite a few different scenes and get through it, but if you come across something that really hits the mark for you and your particular desires it could potentially sink your battleship.

I think that an effective nofap must exclude all films .

I have the experience of watching film with explicit sexual scenes around day 33-34. It does trigger you but it is not necessary that you will PMO after watching it.

I think there is a big difference in sexual explicit scene in movies and such scenes in porn films. First one try to depict emotions between two people while second one just depict reproductive organs and physical intercourse, which is just sick :(

Watching movies that have sex scenes (on purpose) is a problem - but if you want to watch a movie but you can't do nothing about the sex scene then I don't see how it's porn?

NoFap challenge = no masturbating, no viewing porn

Sex scenes in movies in my opinion is not regarded as porn but it might be a turn-on? If it is, try not to look during the scene.

If you watch a movie with a sex scene you can still continue your streak. Your NoFap streak breaks once you masturbate and view porn (in my opinion).

Porn is relative to the viewer. If it is sexually arousing to you, then you shouldn't watch it. If you think something might be arousing, but still insist on watching it, viewing it with others may be helpful.

Trying to watch something erotic without getting aroused could be a good way exercise brain power. You know, since coming in contact with it is unavoidable anyway. This is recommended to the advance Fapstronauts though, for obvious reasons.

I'm already wondering about season 5 for Game of Thrones. We always watch it on tape anyway and fast forward through any of the sex or whoring scenes so we don't linger on it. Will cross that bridge when we get to it.

Seeing even a few seconds of a sexy scene from something like GoT would cause me to relapse. For me, it's P and I'd count watching it as such. Maybe someday I'll be strong enough, but if my goal is to be free for life, then it's probably not worth the risk.
