am 17 and have been masturbating and watching porn for about 4 years. i used to do it 3 times a day. i decided to stop. my highest streak was 15 days. i felt that i'm sad, stressed and low of energy. also not productive and not in the mood to study.. do you have any idea why when i stop i feel those bad things. i'm religous and also want to stop, even though people tell me stopping is harmful for your health and will cause pain in testicles. any suggestions? i don't think thats flatine, as i experience those symptoms starting from fourth day.

    Hey there!
    Welcome to the brotherhood!

I can't tell you why you are affected in a certain way.
Maybe others will have more insight.

    Good luck on your journey!
Doing so at age 17 is amazing!

There are plenty of withdrawal symptoms when we stop PMOing. Here's a link to the symtoms and reason why.

Here are the scientific reasons why withdrawal is uncomfortable from that article:
Current science finds that withdrawal initiates a cascade of neurochemical alterations, which may include:

    • further decline in dopamine levels
    • further decline in opioids and endorphins
    • drop-off in GABA, which is an anti-anxiety neurotransmitter
    • rise in brain stress hormones CRF and norepinephrine
    • elevated dynorphin which inhibits dopamine and blunts your pleasure response
    • one week after quitting the reward center sprouts new nerve cell branches, which correlate with cravings to use

It takes a few weeks for the physical cravings to subside. It takes much longer for the emotional cravings to go away. Withdrawal symptoms are a sign that you truly have an addiction and what you are doing is necessary in order to get better. Find a way to power through the first few weeks and things should get easier.
