Hey nofap warriors, I'm a new recruit, I'm 16 right now. I first saw porn in the form of still images when I was 11. I saw it on my Nintendo 3DS using the browser app, because of foolish curiosity. It was just the "s*xy" type of porn, no actual s*x or n*dity. This continued at most twice a month. That Nintendo web app should have never existed. About a year later, I accidentally saw a graphical s*x advertisment and got hooked (it was a popup). Around 14 years of age, I started watching the life-, motivation-, and joy-sucking videos I found online. It started the process of replacing said attributes with an empty life and fake motivation and joy. At some point it got so bad as occasionally it was a daily habit. The guilt crushed and surpressed my soul for years. I finally got the courage to tell my Father about my guilt a couple months ago. Every so often he asks me how I'm doing but I need more help.
For years, I complained about "not being able to think", but after a long time I narrowed down the causes to PMO, and I had a hypothesis that it has incredible motivation, creativity, and concentration surpression powers. Eventually I found the "Fight The New Drug" website and the educational videos told me a lot of the problems I'm facing. I heard about nofap before, but about a week ago I found nofap and registered. This is my first post.

I've told myself, and have constantly forgotten, that the best life is the radical one. This is not only for nofap, but for becoming a better person The first step I want to take is to never use my smartphone for anything but taking photos when I need to. I also disabled many social media notifications as I told have any real purpose for them either. I want to mostly eliminate my phone from my life. I found that my easiest nofap time was once where I somehow just decided I didn't need my phone anymore, for about a week. I left it in between books in my bedroom bookshelf. My longest nofap time was about 2 weeks, but I didn't time it. The second week was really good and I was able to concentrate better, but then I fell again.
I have an addition to trying to reinvent the wheel on my laptop, which runs GNU/Linux. Or, I just have a habit of aimlessly tweaking and editing various parts of my system, which like while at it but hate afterwards, because I waste so much time. So my second step would be to try to ask myself every so often "is what I'm doing now affecting the big picture of my life? On my deathbed will it have been a valuable thing that I'm doing?
Since I'm trying to make my life better by pushing away technology, it'll br less likley that I'll accidentally come across a trigger online.
The third step for me is to change my environment. I wanna clean my room of course first, but waking up to motivational posters or something that reminds me to be aware of triggers and keep me alert to avoid stumbling would be good.
Forth step is to read my Bible more, as I'm a Christian, but Proverbs also has the effect og making me alert for PMO triggers and to watch out for the dangerous woman who's path leads to destruction. Also part of step 4 is to be active here.

I'm on day 0, if anyone's Wondering. Oof, I'm tired. C'ya all later, hope this isn't too long. I didn't know how to structure this, but I've done my 1AM best.
Edit: Oh and also my username came from the fact that I want to become the master of my body and not be a slave to it. Addictions are hard but willpower for self-control is more valuable than a lot of worshipped things in ghe modern world, like money or social media followers or videogames.

    Welcome to NoFap!

I love your username and your vision! I love the steps you are taking to fight this and I love that you have people in real life helping you out. I love that your dad knows!

Now, if I may offer you some advice.

First off, NoFap is a wonderful tool and community here to help you through your fight. However, it only works if you let it. What I mean is, you can easily walk away, forget to post daily or ignore those helping you. In those cases, NoFap won’t be of any help. Like any accountability partner, it only helps if you stay accountable. So, that said, be consistent. Post daily. I recommend posting a short almost tweet like update each day on your profile. Most NoFap users check profile comments more than threads. I also recommend starting a journal thread. Here you can go in to detail about your day and how it went. You can also use this to keep yourself accountable to reading the Bible each day by posting your daily reading.

Second, join a challenge. There 90 day, 60 day, 30 day, 3 day challenges. Choose one that is attainable, but also challenging. Keep your eye out for special challenges like last man standing or others. Joining a challenge will keep you accountable to no PMO for a certain amount of time. Of course for many of us, never fapping again would be ideal, but often you have to start slow and consistent, taking it one day at a time.

Third, NoFap is here to help you, but you will get SO much more if you help NoFap. And no, I’m not talking about supporting the site financially. What I mean is, in your daily logging and journaling, take a few moments to check up on someone else, like their posts, or give them a word of encouragement. You find this encouraging to them and shockingly helpful to your fight.

I wish you the best of luck on your journey to freedom and am behind you the whole way! Fight hard brother!
