I've run out of Likes lol but I 'Like' this comment. Thanks.

I totally agree. Ditching porn is No.1 and from there, all good things will flow.

  2. Here's a history lesson for you. Some people argue 'porn has been around since we learned how to draw' which is true in a sense, things like pederasty, BDSM and good old regular straight sex have been recorded in drawings for a long time, but these items would only be available to a very select few, possibly those in academic circles or with connections to the right people, since mass communication wasn't really available to the general public until the printing press was invented which paved the way for newspapers. It wasn't until the era of the 'pin up' girl in the 1940's that erotic photography became quite mainstream and back then it was innocent tongue in cheek, mainly glamorous but slightly suggestive. Playboy paved the way for mainstream pornography in the 1950's as a 'gentlemans magazine' and allowed men and boys to obtain a monthly dose of content en-mass. Obviously since photography was invented there had been 'naughty pictures' but again, not very accessible to the general public and certainly not 'the done thing' in conservative Victorian times. More magazines started to become published like Penthouse in the 1970's and then in the 1980's we had the VHS player allowing porn scenes to be watched in the privacy of your own home, never before had such real life depictions of sex been available to view 'in private'. Satelite TV then started to become affordable which allowed X rated channels to be beamed to our homes without people even requesting it ie: 'Free 10 minute previews at midnight' probably pornographers first experiment in offering porn for free in order to create demand. After VHS and satelite TV then we come to the mother of all mass communication and media, the internet which now allows people irrespective of their age to view the most extreme, vile and degrading content man has ever produced. The porn industry regularly uses the 'freedom of speech' rhetoric to justify their content and the right to produce it despite the fact that in the USA the publication of obscene material is a federal crime, it's just not enforced! another intersting and disturbing fact is this quoted from Gail Dines book 'How Pornography has Hijacked our Sexuality'
"In 2002 the Free Speech Coalition lobbied successfully to change the law on child pornography to allow the industry to use women who, while eighteen years of age, actually look much younger. In an example of utter hypocrisy , Hustler is one of the members of the Association of sites Advocating Child Protection, the same Hustler that runs 'Barely Legal' and advertises itself "the worlds #1 teen magazine with the largest collection of teen sweethearts found anywhere". Similar to other businesses, the pornographers go to great lengths to study and understand the psychology of consumer behaviour, although there is still very little actual research conducted on porn consumers"

I'll let you digest that for a little bit.....now consider the fact that because of internet porns' ever increasing reach into our homes and its subsequent popularity, obviously the pornographers need people to make it and human sex trafficking is recognised by NCOSE (National Centre On Sexual Exploitation) as an inherrent problem with the porn industry, as is suicide, drug addiction, mental health problems, STD's. When you click on a video from say, a torrent or some random website how do you know, how do you really honestly know that the two people or at least one of the two people have not been forced or coerced into it or whether they are suffering severe problems in their life and porn is their only way to earn money. The porn industry and porn as a whole is inherently evil because it relies on the human traits of greed, lust, violence and control.

  4. Yes, you could be right. If we stopped comparing and objectively looked at the good vs bad in our life, then maybe we might realize that we're doing ok. I think that politics and celeb news and stuff are just distractions that's why I stopped following both.

and what does it say about modern society that Porn is still not recognized for what it is - evil and addictive. The ancients knew it...but "modern" wisdom? Crap.

Very interesting points you made, as I think this problem is bigger than we think it is.
