Hello all, so a little background I'm 18 and have been watching porn since 11, it has hurt my relationship with my parents and peers, especially women, however only in the last 9 months I've been aware of my addictions consequences, in summary I've been doing nofap for the past 9 months and have gone on a lot of small and long streaks throughout this time and have relapsed even on this very night. I'm here to talk about something else though, the science of porn's reaction in the brain seems identical to minor drug use, to weed and alcohol. Now I know there's the cocaine comparison but I'm referencing one pmo every 4-5 days, which like almost everything in life is considered moderate or low use. I'm just wondering if maybe we have such a bias against any and all porn on this site because it has had horrible consequences for all of us. Anyways, fuck porn thanks for reading.

I think that porn has both scientific and moral problems to it, which make it beneficial to reject porn regardless.

On one hand, there are chemical dopamine addictions.

On the other hand, there’s the sex trafficking and poor treatment of porn actors and actresses that our viewing contributes to.

    No.
    Porn is evil. There is no good in it. Here's a list;
    Incest fantasy
    Teen/pedo fantasy
    Rape fantasy
    Abuse fantasy
    False image of sex
    False image of women/men
Easily accessed by the young, influencing the above two statements.
And the list goes on and on and on..

  5. I think regular use of porn is detrimental, even in such moderate frequency as every 4-5 days.

Masturbation might be natural, but I'm not sure. I mean, I'm sure I is natural to do it every once in a while, but not regularly. And porn might be natural at first, when we watch out of curiosity, but it certainly dampens our desire for the 'real thing' if used with any frequency.

Of course, there are people who watch porn and are all right, but I'm sure they would be better without it.

But most of all, I think porn makes us place excessive importance on sex. Sex is a big part of life, but its not the only part of life.

  6. As an ex cocaine user I can tell you it's more comparable to cocaine, unfortunately cocaine and sex is used together frequently because they for want of a better word, compliment each other but lead to more severe problems and you end up with two addictions to contend with. Essentially most mind altering substance or behaviour (porn included) activates the brains reward centre where dopamine is produced, different drugs and activites activate different degrees of dopamine intensity, cocaine being a very intense but short term burst which is why it's so addictive. It's a bit like putting Nitrous Oxide into a fuel tank of a Ferrari, but don't get any ideas because cocaine and porn almost destroyed my life.

  7. I think the timeframe matters less
If you are regular and cant but help to use it - its an addiction

I have lulled myself into believing i have pmo control falsely too many times...

Hard mode NoFap is what i am striving for now

    Tired of this shit
I had food addictions - now i eat clean but can have occadional "fun /bad meal"...but pmo needs to be cold turkey for me. too many relapses to speak of....no middle ground

The shame...the confidence ... its degradation - i want to be away from it

I wish you the same that you can.leave it go
