Hello everyone, I am not new to viewing this site, and have been on and off trying NoFap for about a year now, and I've decided the best way to stay motivated is to start posting in the forums!

I am a junior engineering major, and my main hobby is drumming. Time not spent doing schoolwork and drumming is usually put into working out.

I've always been into the whole self-improvement thing, and I read this somewhere as motivation to quit porn: "Your best self doesn't watch porn". I'm generally feel too ashamed to tell anyone that I watch porn, and I'm looking to change that by actually not watching porn. I feel guilty for being actively against porn while behind the scenes, I watch it myself.

As of writing this, I'm actually completing day 6 of a current streak (my record is 21). I'm hoping to make it to 90 because I'll be going away all summer and it will be hard for me to find a time/place to masturbate, so if I can make it to the end of the school year, it'll be much easier to make it to 180 and beyond!

I've never had a girlfriend, partly because of the low self-esteem that came with PMO. Plus I've always been a little socially awkward (probably also from PMO). There's a girl I really like right now, but I'm hesitant to make any moves because I'm going away all summer and I see her a lot at school, so if things don't go the way they are planned, I think it might get super awkward. I hope by quitting PMO that I can build up the courage to ask her out or finally be able to find a girlfriend elsewhere.

This time around, I'm trying to implement meditation and cold showers into my plan to quit PMO. I'm already working out, and I hope that if I have extra time without all of porn, I can brush up on my coding skills, which is my weakest area of engineering right now.

So that's why I'm here! I don't think porn and masturbation ever really controlled my life, but I have been unable to quit, so maybe it did. I hope this time I can make it to 90 and maybe even further!

*Side note: I live in the northeastern U.S, and we're about to get pummeled by a blizzard, so I may not post for a few days if we end up losing power*

Welcome @spideyboy, I'm glad you're here. Congratulations on 7 days!

If I can help, let me know.

  3. Hey @spideyboy ,

I'm just a normal ordinary member. No moderator super powers and no special insite. I share my ESH (Experience, Strength and Hope) of what works for me.

Just another warm welcome and a heart felt hello. This community has helped me so much.

What worked for me was "working" it. It took hard work for me to complete a hard reboot (No pmo) for 120 days, then move into a Sex Positive mode.

First, reading the literature published by NoFap itself along with reading journals.

Then, doing the work. Writing in my journal and replying to introductions and other's journals.

Finally, but not least, getting involved with the fellowship. I found it on the forums, but also in people's profiles. The forums tend to be longer posts, where the profiles tend to be more "conversational".

That is what has worked for me. I like to remind myself that this community was here waiting for me with the lights on when I arrived. Now, I have to do my best to be there when someone comes to the community.

For me NoFap is 1/2 program & 1/2 fellowship.

Click on these people and post a "hello" on their profiles.

I've found that the bricks that hold this community together are cemented with the support of the members of the fellowship.

One of the ways I got involved with the fellowship was by reading some really great journals. Reading other's stories with their victories and even defeats is a big part of my program.

Once you open a journal, click "Watch Thread" in the upper right of the page to get alerts when new posts are made. Here are just a few:
