I have spent a lot of time on this site this weekend. One of the things which concern me about the site is the apparent lack of leadership. This leadership should be provided by a health professional, I would say a clinical psychologist. What we have here is abunch of people who recognise that they have a problem, but are not experts in how to deal with that problem. This is helpful, to a degree. It offers non-judgmental support and takes away the issue of shame in taking our problem into the wider world. However, there ar ea number of desperate people on here who need expert, professional help. I am only 34 days in or so......wife said she didn't like my behaviors so I got help from Sexual Addiction Therapist here. I don't think i could make it without the professional help. Also got involved in weekly group with 6 other men, just beginning to recover like me. Of course there is an issue of money. My insurance doesn't cover therapy, so its $140.00 per session with therapist so not all could afford. I just know how much tougher the fight would be without professional help and admire those going it alone here.
