Until about a couple of years ago, and I had no problem in achieving my climax (I’m a male, 68). I’m very sexually driven, love the feel of skin and become very emotionally, turned on during touch with my very compliant partner. In the last few years, I found that I’ve used porn more and more, presumably to compensate with the fact that now, my pleasure is with all foreplay and penetration only. I achieve erection without problem (so that makes her very happy!), but I end up very frustrated because I can’t climax without very strong fantasies (supplanted by porn) and by being on my own later. I’m in a committed relationship and don’t have any hangups with my partner , she has no hangups either. So, I think for me, I’ve established a vicious circle. I use porn more to try to try to achieve this climax, but it more eludes me because of the repetition and even watching porn, I find my mind wandering!. Having joined here, I plan to abstain all stimulation for a period of some kind. Is there anybody with any suggestions about how long a period to abstain completely from stimulation before I might see any improvement in the ease of my own climax, ideally with my partner? (And I will eliminate porn entirely).

First of all welcome to forum, i am glad that we have experienced people here, and congratulations for your age to be in full sexual energy. That is something for a start that not many people of your age can complement with.
Regarding tips how long, it is different for everyone, but i would say that you could try some lower number challenges here 3-7 days, and from there you will naturally see if it is beneficial for you to go further, or this time-range is good enough for you. I can also suggest, if you have time and will, you could follow your progress on a monthly basis. This chart made one of the folks here on forum, to be able to follow his situation on a monthly basis, here is the link:
