So a few weeks ago JAY-Z dropped his 13th (1+3=4) studio album "4:44". In my opinion, this is one of his greatest albums I have listened to and just to let you all know. Hov never retired. Anyways I'm not here to talk about his whole album. I'm here to talk about one of his songs on the album "The Story of O.J." This is about O.J. Simpson, an American pro football player and his affiliation on one of the greatest trials in the 1990s. This trial proved how divided America was at the time (and still is and maybe even worse today). The white community hated O.J. for not being guilty and the black community praised O.J. for him not being guilty. JAY-Z touches upon not just this and O.J.'s impact on the black community, but the black community in general. No matter what black people will always be a "n**ga" (please don't remove this staff as it's essential to this post). So what are your thoughts about this song? You can view a cartoon-like video JAY-Z released with the album below. I hope to start a good conversation on this topic with JAY-Z, O.J. Simpson and the black community in the United States.

Did you actually follow the story when it came out?
Or just listen to the song?
(real question, not trying to be negative)

I had background knowledge of the O.J. Simpson situation prior to 4:44 and I've been diving deeper into the album lately. I never just listen to a song by JAY-Z. His songs are too real to just listen to them.

The show about OJ on Netflix was fantastic. Cuba Gooding Jr. nailed it. Highly recommend.

FYI - OJ will be getting out of jail sometime later this year. (He did an armed robbery about a decade ago.)

Unfortunately, Americans can't undo this ripple in the pond of our melting pot.
It spread like wild fire.... All the hate that was under the surface, was reignited and up rose to the top... Centuries old.

Blacks and whites can't be together.
    Black's are violent.
    Men are violent.
    Poor poor pretty blonde girl.
    So beautiful, so meek.
    Who protected her?
    Why didn't anyone stop this?
    Where was love?
    He didn't love her?
    She was a minx.
    A leaper.
    He was abusive.
    He was a drunk!
    Women only gold dig.
    She took advantage.
He had the right to kill her.
    He defended her.
    (against the real killer)
    Where is the real killer?
Why is the real killer being defended?
Why would a man hate his wife?
If he was cheating why would he kill her?
    She was cheating!
    She was stealing!
Why would, if a man was going to kill, he waste it on his wife?

    So, so many lies.
Embedded in it bits of truth.... But of which is it the truth?
Why does it have to be sex, or race?

    Before anyone strikes me down....
    My children aren't white.
Even if I am, I watched both sides of this argument in horror.
I'll play the devil's advocate no matter what.

  12. The thing is Cuba looks nothing like him.

Love that part of the song... Although apparently OJ never said that.
