  2. It sounds like the author has some kind of ideological agenda regarding sex. Sounds like he's saying that the only reason people can have a problem with porn has to do with one's "values and ideals". When in fact it's his own "values and ideals" that he feels are being threatened by the challenge of porn addicts. It doesn't surprise me that academia would be resistant to anything that challenges a progressive, "sex-positive" agenda, and that that's why sex addiction isn't an officially recognized diagnosis. "Why people who believe in sex addiction must be socially backward, reactionary puritans". That's just my interpretation
