Hey I'm Darren and new to all of this. Including forums in general.
I'm 44 years old and finally admitted to myself yesterday I have a porn addiction.
The unfortunate part is it took my wife leaving me to realise after she found photos and videos on my computer.
Since then I have been searching for help so that's why I'm here. I have been reading a lot of your post and find them very helpful.
I have also booked an appointment to speak with a counsellor this week.
Today is my first day of nofap and it's been very difficult struggling with the emotions of loosing my wife and controlling myself from my addiction.
I'm not sure where this journey will take me and from what I have read I don't expect it to be easy but it's something I want to do.

  2. Hi Darren,
Very welcome here on the forum.
It can be very hard when confronted by the results of porn.
Everybody here should know about that.
I really hope you 'll get some support here. There is a lot of knowledge and awesome people to connect with.
It's highly recommended to keep a journal. Others can read and respond on it.

You don't need to do this alone!

I know I cannot do this alone and just reading what everyone has to say here makes a big difference.
I am now starting day 2 and need to try and keep myself busy.

Hi Darren. Great that you are here and that you are seeing a counsellor. Honesty, openness and willingness are great healers.

  5. So sorry to hear about the fallout in your marriage. I'd encourage you, obviously depending on the circumstances, to potentially reach out to your wife and explain that you are seeking help to address this addiction. Even asking her for help in this process may be enough to mend things.

Again, I don't know the exact circumstance so this may not be applicable. I get the feeling that this is a major contributor to your stress/emotions so I thought it'd be worth mentioning.
