Visual Porn or Smut — which is worse for you personally?

Visual porn: Pictures, videos, or animation of people having sex. Geared typically toward men (but some women also look at it). More visual and more physical. Focuses more on the act itself.

Smut: written stories about people (real or fictional) having sex. Geared typically toward women (but some men also read it). More imaginative and more emotional. More plot-like: Emphasises emotions, sexual tension, or other elements that surround the sexual encounter rather than the act itself, although the act can be very detailed.

Which of the two do you usually have issues with? Do you have any issues at all with the other?

For me, smut was definitely my weakness (I’m one of the excepted blokes who it caters to). It’s just more interesting than any visual porn I’ve seen. With the entire package of characterisation, it stuck out much more in my mind than just body images because it just feels more complete and memorable (both being bad in this case, of course).

It’s even worse when a lot of smut I used to read was written by teenaged girls and young women who write Reader inserts or Male/Male relationships for their favorite anime/videogame characters. Some of those stories, I legit wonder how they learned about some scenes and some kinks because those scenes shocked even me, an adult dude who shamefully did get around.

Anyway, what are your thoughts? I mainly ask this because these cater to different desires, and I found that solutions to visual porn didn’t quite help me with smutty issues.
