Let's look at some of our excuses for not getting porn-blocking software. My fav is that we need to be filled with the Holy Spirit so that we don't need P anymore and so that we can do something for Christ. The problem with that excuse is that when we slip up 100 times per year we have 100 power outages in our Spirit. How many cars would GM build per year if they didn't have power on 100 of the days? Not many. And in the years where I slipped up all the time I barely had the Holy Spirit in me. I was always angry and my joy level was low. I lived for short bits of fun, short bursts of thrills. It was all I had. But now I am fighting hard and my joy level is massive compared to those days. My next fav excuse is that I can find some form of P even if I block my computer. While there is some truth to that – the fact is, the smut on the internet is endless and more graphic. If you are a sugar addict, don't keep the best candy, cake, cookies and chocolate around your house. Chex mix is a lot easier to resist than a double chocolate fudge cake. My 3rd excuse is: I will slip up anyway. But let's look at it from God's perspective. Who will He help more? The alcoholic who dumps all his booze in a possibly wasted attempt to quit again. Or the alcoholic who saves some, realizing that he prob won't quit anyway. Back to the verse: If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. The Bible recommends drastic action to quit sinning. Fill up 10 pages of Google docs with ideas about quitting. Get some blocking software. Try everything. Trust me. God “will” reward your efforts.
Great suggestion! Thank you for this. Think of it as a sickness that shouldn't be treated lightly. A cancer even. You want to rid yourself of the whole thing, otherwise you allow it to come back stronger.
