Deciding to give up

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Dec 17, 2018.

  1. I cant take this anymore. It has been a month and a half since ive fapped and all ive done is every now and then look at a tit pic a girl sent me for like 5 seconds and thats it. i dont see any changes in my social anxiety which was the reason i started and my psychiatrist says masturbating is completely natural and im way to unclear on what the rules for this actually are. its obvious no one on here actually cares and can tell me the rules and truth about this, so I guess im gonna have to start ending this, and just accept that since its been a month and half and my social anxiety has gotten even worse, (shaking in public, stuttering to people I don't know too well, shyness, socially awkwardness) that there is clearly not even a point of me continuing nofap anymore if its not gonna help my social anxiety like the rest got in 2 weeks. i guess im just a freak that will never get over social anxiety cuz exposing me in social situations is not an option when my whole college will look at me as weirdos trying this.

    Hey man,

One month and a half is a great progress, you may see results very soon.
Do you exercise, do you have a healthy diet?
Did you know that eliminating coffee will help you a lot in SA?
I think it is a good idea to do it right, please hold on and continue the streak. I'm sure that one day you will get all the benefits.

  3. Do what you wish... It's your own life. My 2 cents are on the fact that you won't find much happiness in giving in to your weaknesses anymore than the pain you will face in trying to fight them and get better. So do whatever you want.
    Best wishes

Did you tell your psychiatrist that you masturbate to porn? I think he/she would have a different say in this then. What you are experiencing are withdrawal symptoms which start to take place after you quit porn and masturbation for a set amount of time. They can include all of the symptoms you mentioned above and sometimes maybe even more. But the good news is that they will soon pass out as your body and mind starts to adjust to this new phase.

What you need to do right now is be patient with yourself. You have gone over for 45 days and its definitely a fantastic achievment which shows you have tremendous willpower brother. You just need to face the storm and realize the fact that it will eventually subside. Don’t give into temptations now. The withdrawals will soon go away. Indulge in some activities which will keep your mind active and busy like exercising, reading a book, or any other thing which you like to do. Don’t make your mind more stressed out. Good luck to you and let us know if you have any other issues :)

Read psychocybernetics, constructive imagination. I would keep not watching porn and try to do some constructive activities that lead to goals you want to achieve. Baby steps this might take some time. Maybe 90 days no one can say for sure. You might have to put more work in. Don't give up. My advice would be baby steps and reps talking to people so you get used to it.

I see you started on this site last Month. It’s simply not true that no one here cares. I care my friend and I’ve met many friends here that care very much.

I can tell you are very frustrated because you’re not getting a benefit you believe comes from nofap. When did you start getting social anxiety or have you always had it? NoFap will reboot your brain back to what it was but it won’t make you suddenly have a different personality or make you someone you are not.

I see you are 18. How old were you when you started watching porn and masturbating? Healing takes time my friend.

If you won’t give up on me then I won’t give up on you either. Do we have a deal?

I'm on day 200+, i was expecting unbelievable benefits like people tell, but i've seen none.

But at this point, i still don't want to masturbate to porn like a looser.

Don't mean to be rude, but i never understood this kind of advice.

If one is on nofap he should see improvements by nofap, even from a scientific point of view.
This forum is not called "diet, gym and spiritual advice".
In the end, if you see improvements with nofap you wouldn't even know if those improvements are from nofap, or from the diet, or from an ego boost after reading a book, or other shit.
If nofap works, you should see improvemebts by nofap, not by doing other stuff.

That's one of the reason that makes me doubt nofap, but most of all, makes me doubt the advantages people tell about nofap.

Personally I think your doc is wrong. I have PMO for a few decades. I can only tell you from my own experience, it really saps the energy out of everything once it becomes a habit. Right now you are feeling frustrated, because of your social anxiety.

If you feel restless then that’s because you have lots of energy and drive. That’s a result of nofap.

I think you should try some of the tips. Find an activity that you like (except PMO). Become obsessed learning how to play a guitar or something. Just say to yourself, try it for a month. Lose sleep over it, wake up at 3am on weekends and practice it. And after that, another month.

When you’re really good at it 3months down the road, then you have something to talk about at social gatherings. Then maybe after that, you might just find you don’t have social anxiety.

You are right, but at least nofap gives you motivation to change.
I already feel the results after 40 days and I manage a healthy life. But if I drink coffee, it will increase my SA (However, not as before).

its quite hard for a lot of guys to stop flapping without meditation, exercise, etc. I have tried those while still practicing masturbation and I didn't get many benefits. Now I am reaping great benefits, seems like a complete new life

  12. Look at Nofap as an "accountability "thing to stop indulging in porn and masturbation. Some people may do it to supress bad feelings, negative emotions or inexperienced with the real thing. However the problem lies when you do it w/ porn and tend to watch more extreme stuff. Therefore you need Nofap to reset your brain back to normal caused by pmo overstimulation. Now you realize that pmo don't do nothing for you but make you feel good for a short period of time and decide to try a thing called "NOFAP." But there's a price to pay attempting to solve all these abuses which are withdrawals and flatlines. They can last based how long and how much you used to beat it up to pmo.

    this is far from true
    read this: https://www.nofap.com/porn-addiction/
maybe he's right. But abstinence for a shott period is useful to fight porn addiction
that means something is happening kn your brain. You just have to push through

Don't give up man. You can do a little while longer

I hear what you are saying but for NoFap (No PMA) to be successful you need to do other things in order for it to be successful. When you have Heart Bypass Surgery they also look at your nutrition, physical therapy, etc.

NoFap’s purpose is to reboot your brain to heal the damage done by years of PMO. That’s a big deal that requires a whole person approach.

I’m reading Your Brain On Porn by Gary Wilson and I would recommend anyone that is serious about this process to also read it.

    I disagree.

I think nofap is one thing, other life wellness thing are another.
If nofap does not give any advantage if taken alone, then it means it is not useful.

  16. The thing is us that my social anxiety has gotten even worse ever since I started nofap. I started masturbating and watching porn at age 16. I've been socially anxious my whole life but it has gone from not only doing presentations i get insanely nervous but now even talking to anyone is hard and im starting to give up and see no hope for this because nofap is healing everyones social anxiety but me

  17. dude EXACTLY like how do I know I wont get benefits from meditating, exercising, cold showers, etc? Like I just need the truth cuz its been a month and I feel NOTHING

Don’t give up. Trust the old fappers here in this forum, you don’t want to walk down this road.

Find a hobby or activity (other than PMO) that you’ve always wanted to do, but never got around to do it. Then have a go at it, day and night. Once you are really good at it, you now have something to talk about when you are around people.
