30 90 35 You Do You. Whether They Like it Or Not Think of all the people throughout history who were wrongly condemned and criticized by the mob. From the Civil Rights Activists to Galileo to ordinary people whose lifestyles were hypocritically condemned as perverted or a violation of God’s law. Think of Jesus himself, condemned and nailed to a cross for no good reason. In a sense, this is a rather dark reality to accept. But it is a fact. Society has always stupidly attacked what it doesn’t understand and what it fears. So what should we do about that as individuals? Live according to the crowd, even if we know that’s wrong? Of course not, at least according to Marcus Aurelius. No, we must live as we were meant to live. We must live in truth. Let them kill us if they don’t understand it, he said. Imagine that. Indeed, many Christians were persecuted by Marcus’s regime, and ultimately by his sign off. Just as Epictetus himself had been exiled from Rome for his philosophy. Just as how Stoicism would later be suppressed by the Christians. Just as great minds and regular people have been attacked and criticized by ignorant, obnoxious other people. But we can’t let any of that stop us. We have to do what we have to do. We have to be who we are. We have to follow the truth as we see it. Because if we don’t, what good is this life we’ve been given anyway
Day 73/365 Went through a rough patch today. Saw something (not digital) that was a major sexual turn on. Mind could think of almost nothing else for awhile, then I was able to pull away from it just enough to focus clumsily on other things. Before I knew it, the mental image started to fade and lose it's grip until I was finally back to my normal self.
11 days in. I had a lot of urges yesterday and I know where it all spawned from: looking lustfully at women on the streets. I am going to use a 3 look rule from now on. 1st look=captures my attention. 2nd look=appreciation. 3rd look=lust. There is no getting away from the fact that my mammalian brain is primed to look for eligible females in the environment. However, it does not mean I have to be under it's control.
@Caleb 2020 I started reading that book you had recommended Soft Porn Plays Hardball and it has some very disturbing truths. It is a massive red pill and I need to take it in small portions. Though an old book, written when tube sites and HD/4K porn were not available, it highlights the sinister plot and goals of the pornographers: making men impotent (especially mentally) or powerless and thus becoming subservient, meek and easy to control. It highlights in detail how Hugh Hefner's lecherous lifestyle was anything but sad generally filled with drug and alcohol abuse. It also highlights to me that soft core porn or erotica is very dangerous. It warps the mind much more easily because people think it is 'soft'. Porn is porn and it destroys the mind no matter how 'soft' it is and women bear a very heavy cost for that. Thanks for the recommendation! Knowledge is power indeed!
