I think perhaps the disconnect is in the term “ damage”. Your brain has been changed. That is apparent, just in how addiction changes people over all. Addiction is considered a brain disease. Those neuropathways are never completely gone. No matter how long you remain clean. You can overwrite those pathways - google the backwards bicycle. Once you learn how to ride a bike you don’t forget just because you stopped riding. It’s always there in your brain. Addiction is the same. Your brain cannot go back 100% to the condition it was before addiction. So what? You can choose to not access those particular neuropathways and they will get weaker with time and you can write new neuropathways. Trauma changes your brain. Doesn’t mean you can’t heal, but you can’t go back to the brain you had before trauma.
You hope I am right? It was you who sent the article, I got it from you lol I also sent the separate paper supporting what is being said here. The paper is taken from the National Library of Medicine - the largest biomedical library in the world. I don't know if there is much more evidence needed here.
Well, it's the study you posted. Why don't you quote the part(s) where it says that there is permanent damage?
When you say damage, you mean that erections and sexual desire do not return or that an addict always remains an addict, I didn't understand
Any addict can heal. Your sexual desire and erections will return if you stop the addiction for long enough. However it means that as an addict of pornography, you are more likely to return to the addiction. It does not mean that you will always be an addict no. What BeInspired said was incorrect.
As an addict, you're in a position where you can return quite easily to that addiction. But the addiction, per se, can be healed.
I want to abstain for a few years to recover and I hope that at the age of 40 50 I will be able to enjoy sex
Well, only closer to 70 you can. With such questions. And if no kidding, then everything will be fine, you will recover in a couple of years.
stop using porn and eventually you should recover. Nobody can tell you exactly how long it will take but the sooner you start, the sooner you can heal.
You're talking at crossed purposes here. He is referring to healing from the effects of the addiction(primarily PIED/loss of libido), not the % of those who get and stay clean.
Smoke is not healthy at all, it also reduce the blood flow which impact on your erection even if you don't suffer from porn addiction or pied. You should stop anyway for yourself.
