I’ve recently discovered a terrific book titled “The Spiritual Combat” by Father Dom Lorenzo Scupoli. A classic. It’s in the public domain so it’s free to read online Here’s another site listing the chapters. It’s all about living a life of virtue, rejecting sin. A comment on Amazon pretty much sums up the book; “St Francis de Sales carried this book with him wherever he went and for the rest of his life. It is a nuts and bolts manual of how to fight the spiritual battle for our souls on a daily basis”.

If you’re up for checking it out, check out Chapter XIX (19) which gives advice on what to do when temptation hits.

Good luck, gentlemen. We can all achieve our goals!

Never read it, but did receive very good comments on it. Another classic (much older, from the 4th Century) is the "Ladder of Divine Ascent", it also has some very good practical advices to overcome lust and achieve purity.
