Okay so I'm coming up to day 12 of hard mode, no PMO whatsoever but my question is this...

I've been struggling with anhedonia (decreased or non existent pleasure in usually pleasurable activities) for some time now, even before I started NoFap. This has led to a diagnosis of depression and anxiety which I realise I do suffer from and I know there are underlying issues I need to resolve and I am receiving medical treatment for this.

I'd done a lot of research into dopamine receptor desensitization and how porn and other high dopamine releasing activities such as food, TV, internet surfing etc can be detrimental to recovery.

I would like to give my dopamine system a good rest but that doesn't really leave a lot to do in life and leaves me feeling bored, lousy and depressed. NoFap is one way of resting the system but how is somebody supposed to cut out pleasurable activities all together??? I like binge watching TV and eating sugary foods and going for a beer it makes me feel good... All I really want to stop is PMO but will this be enough to rebuild dopamine receptor function?

    Thanks

    Tips:
    1. Cut OUT sugar!!!!!! That's a wrong start bro!
    2. Get a pet and play with it!
    3. Don't binge watch! That kills half the excitement! Instead, limit yourself to a few episodes a day!! Let the excitement build overnight!!
    4. See a therapist. This is something to sit and discuss, so do not shy away!
    5. *masturbate ONLY twice a month. The reason i put a star here is because research indicates that up to 2 ejaculations a month are healthy and boost our happiness! I would not recommend you quit altogether, considering your depressed state. You still require stimulation. Use this as a LAST RESORT though. There are plenty other ways to get that fix.
    6. Eat bananas! They got dopamine!

Before you do any of this, make sure you go a complete absteinance (as best you can) from ALL addictive behaviour for a month. Your receptors need to recover first!
Consult all this with a professional for best results!!! I can only convey existing info! Good luck brother!!!!

    Thanks bro.

The problem is how do I abstain from all addictive behavior for a month? It's almost impossible in this day and age. I can't not watch TV for a month or not browse the internet for a month... Surely it does not require complete abstinence from pleasurable activities in order for my receptors to recover otherwise I'd just be sat looking at a wall for a month haha.

Fair enough, but wanna know what i've been doing?
    1. I havent watched TV in a year. On yeah. U read that right. A YEAR. This started even b4 the no PMO thing but i saw no reason to not keep pushing
    2. I havent watched any series this YEAR with 2 exceptions (Gotham S3 and about 30 episodes of an anime called Naruto Shippuden)
    3. I meditate whenever i get the chance (a free lapse of 30 mins or more)

Use this as motivation. Surely you can kick TV for a week! Then kick all series for another week! Then TV! Then series! Alternating is fine man! Any less screen time helps!!!!! Good luck!

I find exercise to be really helpful for this.

No man wtf don't get medication , you are not depressed because of depression itself , it is only a temporary withdrawal symptom and will fade if you fight it

It makes it better, sure, since the orgasm punches with way more dopamine at once than something like TV which releases dopamine more like over time.
The receptors grow back because there is a rythm of too much release at once, so your brain starts to decrease the receptors to avoid an overload, depending of how big the release has been.

If you wanna focus getting rid of PMO first, you will feel an improvement as well as you gonna feel an improvement if you put away something like too much sugar or watching TV.

If you do your research, then you know WHY you like sugar and binge watch TV, which helps in my personal opinion to stop doing these things
