I still watch porn in my dreams

Discussion in 'Porn Addiction' started by Deleted Account, Feb 4, 2018.

  1. For the last 2 nights I've been watching porn in my dreams and when I wake up I keep thinking I have relapsed and that I'm back on square 1. Anyone else had this experience and is there a way to stop it?

You have to change your thinking. Are u allowing yourself sexual daydreams? If so, you have to stop. Tell yourself no! Each time this starts for as long as necessary. At first it will seem overwhelmingly difficult but as you regain control of your mind it will get easier. This is the source often of those dreams.
We are very imaginative people. I can run a porn movie in my mind any time I want with anyone I want. This is destructive though in the same way p is destructive. And why wouldn’t it be?

I used to see porn dreams when I went to sleep, too. They'll fade as you abstain from porn.

I had that kind of dream once but I stopped myself from watching porn inside the dream, because I though I was going to relapse

  6. This is quite common, especially early on in your journey of recovery. The more successful with not masturbating and porn, the less frequent and intense these dreams will be. Treat it as a withdrawal symptom at the moment. At least they are not real relapse. :)

  7. My experience is exactly the opposite: if I suppress erotic thoughts they come back out of control in my dreams. When I do have erotic thoughts I keep them innocent. This holds the wolves at bay in my dreams.

I no longer use the term “suppress” to describe resisting sexual impulse. You suppress a spring, and as a consequence it retains a potential energy waiting to be released. But I find that not to be the case with pmo. After a period of abstinence, the oversexed drive naturally diminishes and regains a normality. The spring, rather than increasing in its energy, actually decreases. A better why to phrase it might be that our passions begin to yield to our will. This is why I suggest this method of continually resisting sexual fantasy. At first it will be a struggle and may feel as though we’re “suppressing” a powerful energy, but in tIme that energy will yield to our will.
I wonder if in your case enough time might not have passed? How many days no cap are you when this occurs?

  10. Quite common. I do this and I wake up horrified, until I realize I was dreaming. Part of the brain resetting.

  11. Not with PMO, but with eroticism in general, if I suppress it, look the other way, nip the thought in the bud, then it wreaks havoc in my dreams. This is also why I don't use porn blockers, I have to be able to deal with the problem not hide from it.
This has happened mostly during reboot, it has caused me to relapse. What's your point? When I was in PMO mode, which I have been most of my life, this never happened. The dreams are hotter than anything I have ever experienced or imagined while awake, and put me in a sort of post-indulged-urge mode. Because of this I don't suppress erotic thoughts or fantasies anymore, rather I keep them innocent and let them run their course. I am not sure what would happen if I suppressed them after 90 days. It's not something I feel comfortable risking or trying.

I had the same thing, maybe even worse.
In my wet dream I was conscious of my Reboot and was kind of in power to decide whether or not I break it. In both dreams I decided for porn.
I felt so bad the next morning and it made me think that my mind just doesn't want to get rid of porn.

I have had vivid dreams that I was watching porn and that I relapsed. When I do I normally wake up in the morning pissed off. Then I realize it was just a dream. I have vivid thoughts of porn sometimes you just got to acknowledge it and start thinking about something else.
