stop counting days

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Deleted Account, Jan 7, 2019.

  1. i realized something, counting days is pointless. Why would you count days?, because you want to reach some short term goal?, in reality NoFap is so much more than a short term goal, it is a lifestyle, it is how you should be living every day of your life, it is about getting rid of things in your life that no longer benefit you, it is about seeking happyness and bettering yourself with every chance, and its so much more than porn, what good is not masturbating to porn, but your masturbating to bad food, your masturbating to lazyness, your masturbating to feeling bad for yourself, your masturbating to excuses, lets face it guys NoFap is so much more than porn, its about bettering your life, having 90 day goals or 30 day goals is pointless, because unless you make it an actual lifestyle it wont matter, get rid of what does not benefit you, for this lifestyle has no need for things that do not benefit you.

I think counting days is a great way to help the new guys push through those first couple weeks of struggle. I know it helped me a lot on my longest streak and it continues to help me today. It's a great way for one to take pride in their reboot as well. You don't want to have to come here and reset.

I kinda agree to you but don't you think one needs a sense of achievement in the beginning when its measured in terms of days or weeks or even months the time you have been abstaining from chronic addiction for people like me, suffering for almost half of thier lifetime, i am turning 30 next month :), i think its important to count till the day you forget to keep it and its the best day ever ! Right ?

littlekegger I completely agree. This is about learning a new lifestyle and making choices that will last. I think if it helps people in the beginning and builds some confidence for people to push forward then good for them. However, just like a diet, this is about a lifestyle change. No point in counting calories for a month if youre going to go back to eating how you did before. Same idea applies to this. Most of us on have an addiction or compulsion that will require us to continuously make new decisions that will result in the outcome we desire.
