Some people are trying to reboot however they are focusing on days going by or using motivation to get by. The truth is rebooting is about become the person you want to be and get the life you want! You can only do that via discipline and grit not motivation.

So how do you get discipline.

    1) Use the power of Obliquity (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BoAtYL3OWU). Have a large goal and then forget about it and just do the small thing to reach it. If you want to lose weight, for example. Do not think about the weight you want to lose. Rather think about exercising everyday and create a journal and then just do it. (Reach your goals by not focusing on them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2PP3p4_4R8)

    2) Create countdown clock on your goal with a minimum of 66 days. (It takes about 66 to form a good habitt (Charles D Power of habit. Call it "(name here) diary". That way you know it relates to your diary / journal. (http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/create)

    2) Create the journal and write in everyday. For example excising: Number of days in one columns, the food you eat and the exercise and next days exercise. (if you want to work out. (It also works for other things, like learning a language, playing a musical instrument etc etc).

    3) Do 5- 20 minutes of whatever you need to do everyday for a 100 day. However just focus on day at a time. Have urgency to do it.

    4) Repeat, have the same time as the last day. Then repeat.

    5) Remember tomorrow does not exist, and neither does yesterday. Only the present, therefore just do it.

Discipline is greater than motivation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMnMp-d5pKs

(Sorry this is badly written. I have just done 10 days of HIIT exercises in row, day after day. Its late and i'm tired. And 16 days of exercise out of 20 (4 days of being unwell)).

ps I read and reply to all emails, so send away. (Right now I have done 64 of no PMO hardmode and "only" have 26 days left until 90).

I'm not sure I agree with this. Motivation, in psychological terms, is a need or desire that directs behavior. Basically all our actions stem from motivation. I think Discipline is simply a way to direct that motivation to different actions then we are used to. A need or desire for sex is the motivation that directed us to PMO. Discipline is redirecting that same motivation(a need or desire for sex) toward healthy behaviors like actual sex with a real partner. Other motivations such as the desire to be a good person, to improve ourselves can be used to direct our behavior to those same things. Discipline, I think, is directing our motivations to different actions. In other words discipline and motivation are two totally separate entities, one is not better than the other, they compliment each other.

Hello Chris1052, I slightly agree with what you are saying. However you can be disciplined to do things that do not motivate you, or need motivation for everyday because it is a habit which you got disciplined too. For example, Do you brush your teeth every night. If so how come? Does it motivate you?

I think you need to have some reward for accomplishing your goal. The goal has to be a reward, otherwise there is no motivation. the goal cannot be simply the attainment of some objective, there must be some sort of pleasurable reward.

I would say you could all pitch in $20 and make it a competition, but verification could be a little difficult. could be NoFap lottery or raffle but not really fair, some are younger, older etc.

Just say if you make it 30 days you will take a trip to some place you've always wanted to go or something like that. life adventure also quells the urge to fap out of boredom.

The way I see it, discipline keeps you motivated in tough times. It's optimistic and sees the light at the end of the tunnel when motivation alone doesn't.

For me personally, when it comes to exercising. The rewards is the dopamine high that i get from completing the work. It happens to everyone in the brain, when you finish a task. However I understand what you mean, I think once I hit my new 100 days challenge on my other goals, I am going to reward myself by something I need.

What are you going to do?
