After 2 years of fighting PMO, I feel like there is a strange way we humans act. We make decisions everyday, and where does the thoughts come from? I personally think we control ourselves with 3 parts: Body, brain(mind) and soul(spirit), and there is a hierarchy in that.

Body is your flesh, no need explain

Brain(spirit) is your natural desire, your instinct (food ,survive, reproduce, etc) In this case, desiring PMO simply because you don't have a sexual partner/your partner doesn't fulfil your desire, and this is natural. This is the "animal part" of human

Soul(spirit) is something different. Soul is more like our consciousness, who we see ourselves as. This is the thing that makes us "human"(in my opinion). During PMO, our willpower to stop fapping is comes from here

the order is usually like this: brain ≥ soul ≥body

Doing nofap and all the mindfulness thing makes it change to this: soul ≥ brain ≥body

In that case you will have full control over your own body and own life, as your soul/spirit is able to resist the natural and primitive instinct.

You just tried to explain one of the hardest topics in life... But i think more info is needed, its a really short post explaining a massive topic. I've personaly tried to learn something a bit like this, the body and mind are easy to undrstand yes, the soul is the hardest.

  4. Agreed in general, except that I think for some the body is actually highest on the list -- they give in to every urge. This is what it is like to be an animal. I know this is where I used to be myself! By learning discipline, we become more fully human, eventually learning to let our brains make decisions and our spirits/souls set the overarching direction in which we will order our lives.
