I didn’t know I hate Rock & Trance/Techno so much

I always thought that music doesn’t have anything to do with my porn addiction, until I understood that it does, and a lot. I used to listen to Rock and Heavy Metal since high school, thinking that I liked the loud music, the words, the lyrics, everything, and didn’t notice that I only listen when I masturbate or fapping. Sadly, only now I’ve finally made the connection, and with that realized how much I HATE this music, with all my being, as every time I hear it, no matter which genre, all the poison fills the mind again, all this condition when you watch porn, feel so low, so weak, so impotent, so intimidated by women.

With that in mind, I have exterminated every trace of Rock music I ever had, more then a hundred gigs of it, maybe even two hundred. I cannot tell you what a relief it is, like it had a physical presence or something. I will never listen to that music again as long as I live.

That's encouraging to hear! Its always great when people rid themselves of triggers or reminders. Anything that was "a norm" for us while we were indulging in our addictions can EASILY be a trigger or extreme reminder, and if it causes any kind of "danger" for us, we need to eradicate it completely! The problem is that a lot of people try to fool themselves into thinking its not that bad or that they can just get around it.

VERY smart move on your part, sir!

  3. Sound is the fundamental of all existence in the entire known universe.
Every single thing in existence vibrates at a fundamental frequency that literally creates its molecular structure. Every element at a microscopic level oscillates in a specific manner that helps bond and create the thing in which it “is”.

Planets, rocks, animals, humans are all alive in various degrees and they all have magnetic fields that vibrate at different frequencies and tones. They all are effected by different frequencies and tones.
They all emit their own distinct tonal signatures that connect with all the rest of life.
    Why this is important.

Music, which is the layering of various sounds, intentions and tones over a limited period of time, in a specific Key, unlocks and influences human beings and other living creatures in complex ways.
Sound is the base of all creation, all of it.

So now you see how music can influence, change and emotionally alter those who are in contact with it. Especially those who are unaware or inebriated.

The heavy metal genre in particular is a style of music that uses minor key signatures with tones and vocals in such a way that it attracts and influences people into destructive thought patterns, aggression, isolation and closed hearted ness. It’s designed this way. It pulls in those who are in tune with those emotions and thoughts already and amplifies it.

Your wise to pay close attention to the music you subject yourself too.
Behind all of it are hidden messages and intentions that quite literally shape our perception of reality and our emotions themselves.

  4. I don't know about that one, chief. I listen to metal all the time and I'm fairly extroverted and not particularly aggressive besides when I need to be. I just like Amon Amarth's music.

As for OP, it's a very good idea to rid yourself of anything you associate PMO with; at least temporarily whilst you're still healing. Metal to me is something I associate more with working out and making gains rather than PMO, but there's plenty of parallels to this in my life too. Just today, I got triggered because I sat down to read a book in a similar position and place as I would sit down to PMO all those months ago. The tiniest things really can make a difference, and it's good to eliminate them altogether until we're ready to handle them once and for all.

  5. That’s fine if you don’t know, I’m sharing what I do know and regardless of your personal preference in taste that genre overwhelmingly does invoke and influence humans to identify and emulate their lower base animal nature’s rather than their empathetic and compassionate-spiritual nature. I’m not saying there isn’t well composed riffs and great technicality involved.
I’ve played in a metal/prog band before. The very clientele speak for themselves.

  6. Alright, I guess I misunderstood you. Metal is a "violent" sort of music the same way classical is quite the opposite (generally speaking), and I don't think I'd find a lot of people who listen to metal to calm down and go to sleep. It definitely does invoke that primal part of you. But outside of the moshpit a lot of the people I know listen to metal aren't very violent in their demeanor atall, and a lot of the metal musicians I know of are actually nicer and more down-to-earth than their non-metal counterparts (Dio, Dickinson, Joachim... Forget about Ozzy).

Music and porn addiction obviously have nothing to do with one another. However, you conditioned yourself to link rock music with porn. The same would have happened if you had eaten a Big Mac every time you watched porn (adding some weight as well obviously). A family trip to McDonald's would never be the same in that case :D

So yes, best to avoid whatever you linked to porn, at least for a while.

PS: I very much enjoy Tool's new Fear Inoculum album. Not sure I understand what's wrong with metal. I'm perfectly happy and fine with myself, all the while enjoying some metal now and then. Perhaps it's because I also listen to Beethoven ;-) :p

Thank you all for your replies.

An update- I have come to the same realization about my Techno/Trance/Schranz(VERY heavy & aggressive Trance) collection- I only listen to it while masturbating/fapping. Again, I used to listen to this since I was 18 years old, liking all the high beat (especially in Schranz), the sound, the bass, the loudness, without understanding it was my porn addiction that fuels it, not any personal preference of mine. And with that, I have, just like earlier with Rock, exterminated any trace of this music that I had, understanding only now how much I despise it.

    Thread title edited.

Metal can be upbeat like dance and it can have a happy feel. The big names in metal like Metallica and Megadeth both have a kind of morose feel to their music, but it's not the only kind of metal

Metal is awesome. You don't become down when listening to metal. You are down, listen to metal and then feel better, because you know there's other people who feel your pain and vent it. You go from powerless to powerful by listening to that music. Never has listening to metal lead me to become more aggressive afterwards or watch porn (lol?).
    Thy Art is Murder
    Unleash the Archers
    Jinjer
    Parkway Drive!!
    Devil Driver
    Dimmu Borgir
    Cradle of Filth
And 80's stuff, like Motley Crue and W.A.S.P. :emoji_metal:

Why should we be empathetic and compassionate all the time? What makes you think that mode of being is the best? Are you being compassionate and empathetic while you have sex? I hope not, because if you are, your girl is missing out! She needs some of that lower base animal nature bro. ^^
