I am a new fapstronaut who is trying to learn from my mistakes. If you don't mind, I would like to know what you have learned from a failure(s).....that has help you succeed??

Btw, the quote is by Steve Harvey.

  2. I learned that the quicker I accept failure, the quicker I can move on from it and better myself. The ones who linger on the past are the ones who never grow. Whether it's their own self-esteem or something else, they allow it to get to them. And that single failure festers and rots and slowly destroys their insides...

Then there's the successful people in society. The ones who FAIL but LEARN from it. I always strive to be THAT guy!

I am with you. Move on and look forward. My failures are behind me. There are successes in front of me.

I like it..... "The ones who FAIL but LEARN from it. I always strive to be THAT guy!"

The emergency.nofap.com website is a legit strategy.

I was browsing the internet at 1:20 AM this past Saturday. This was stupid. I knew this was stupid. Temptation struck while I was browsing the internet. In a moment of desperation, I clicked on the emergency.nofap.com website. This distracted me long enough to where I started thinking clearly again. Then, I went to sleep.

Expect set-backs. Plan for slow steady improvements in your skills.

Don't put too much importance on the "counter". If the counter # is your only motivation, you will binge badly after you first relapse. The counter can make you feel like all your efforts were wasted.

Two books I would recommend are "Willpower Instinct", and "you are not your brain"

    Good luck

I appreciate you sharing a few things that you have learned. It's great stuff! I am going to check out "Willpower Instinct." Looking forward to reading it. Feel free to share other insights that you have. Thank you!

  7. I've learnt that my physical state heavily determines my mental state and willpower. The days where pmo is manageable are the days where ive worked out and slept well.

Failure has taught me to set doable goals. A few years ago, I remember my first goal was to go 7 days without PMOing. This was a difficult goal. After I hit this goal, my second goal was to go 14 days. I hit this goal, then I tried 30...60..90...now my current goal is 95.

For a new Fapstronaut, I would recommend setting a reachable/doable goal. 100 days sounds like a good goal, but it may not be doable. Start with what you BELIEVE you can do. It may be a goal of 2 days or 7 days. Hit the goal...and then set another goal!

I say to myself all the time...one day at a time. If I can do 7 days in a row, then I can get 8. Then, I get 8 days. If I can get 8 days in a row, then I can get 9. Then, I reach 9.

  9. Love this. I know that I can do 22 days so my next target is 30 days.

I also learnt from failure how to motivate myself. Using phrases like its just one more day. Etc

Hey Noeledge - If you hit 22 days, then I know you can get 30 days. I believe in you. Get 30! I too love the phrase "It's just one more day."

I love the concept of "It's just one more day"!! Such a good way of looking at things.

What I learned from my mistakes:

    - Never "test" yourself to see if you could watch P without MO, you start down a very slippery slope and that never ends well.
    - Never think that I am over my addiction. I acted as if I was cured after 60 days and started MOing without any porn. Of course, now I'm back to my old habits and the ED is back again.

I like what Alexander, the Founder of NoFap, has in place of his tracker. It says, "PMO is completely in my past. At this stage, I no longer find it useful to count the days." He has learned from his mistakes and moved on from his past. He has strong forward momentum. He has the mindset of a winner.

This is a great thread. I beat myself up bad after my last relapse. And I had a hard time getting back on track. Then it occurred to me that I may have gotten impatient with my recovery. I made it 90 days hardmode. I had grown and progressed in many ways. The thrill of achieving my goal was over. Then I got into a situation where I was trapped with an abusive person. When I got out of it, I felt like it had sucked the life out of me. And then I relapsed after over 4 months. Although I binged for a while, I learned from it. We can't expect superpowers and magic to happen because we stop fapping. I am deeply fucked up and I have a lot more work to do. I feel excited and confident this time. Not cocky. But confident because I feel completely whipped. I no longer want to fight PMO. I just want to recover. No matter how long it takes.
