Now I can say how bad gaming is by watching my 11yo brother, who is constantly having mental crisis and rages at us,
only cause he plays too much Roblox and Fortnite.

Is that worth it? I think you're leaving in a fantasy world, at least when you are playing. Then, real-life comes back, with the bills to pay, the useful skills you're not learning,
the real friends you aren't meeting, the real opportunities you are losing, the years flowing and flowing upgrading a fake character,
while yourself (the real one) never did, and instead, he downgraded.

Thats extreme but at that age i didnt got any mental crisis but i would got angry if my parents call me to do something or for some reason ruin my game . But i think thats normal at that age, me now being 22 i didnt become a videogame addict quite the opposite has i become older my videogames time and interest decreased, now i play a bit more because of lockdown but im not addicted to it, its not like PMO , i feel that what i really want is my former activities and thats what happened on the end of the first lockdown i resumed the activities that i could do and i liked most and my videogame time decreased naturally

i know why i do fight porn: because i was totally sad, depressed, not finding joy , after i watched porn.

but if you like porn, if after orgasm while watching porn you feel happy, fulfilled in life, and full of energy, than i have no idea what you keep doing here, go watch porn and have fun...

i follow my instincts: and they tell me that porn is very not healthy, very harmful, and they tell me that games DO waste a lot of time, but don't harm me in any other way.

however, if you stick to games that rely more on the story/narrative side, and doesn't rely too heavily on addictive mechanics, than i don't see a difference between a good book and a good game.

 

sure, i agree that games can harm you - as i said, gaming is a very effective medicine against porn, and like all great effective medicine, it has big side effects.

so what would you prefer ? an 11 years old kid who is addict to porn, or addict to gaming ?

you think your brother have a choice between: gaming, porn, and being a famous doctor, or something, but actually what he has is only a choice between gaming and porn, and your brother chose wisely gaming.

if your family will present him with a better option, that he can easily slip into: like studying or something, that he will start to choose it slowly until he will study and work instead. but you clearly doing something wrong here. don't blame the gaming for that.. they are just cleaning up after you

you seem to think that ''becoming expert'' at something is very important to you, i have no idea why. is this like the top form of existence ?

you know, there are starving people in developing countries that use their time much better than me; each minute of their live is spend on important matters, like getting food and water, those it mean they live better than me ? hell no, they would have loved to have my lifestyle where they waste their time.

so ''using your time for important matters'' doesn't really mean it's good, and the example i gave is good at demonstrating that.

 

actually i have a potato laptop for over 3 years, by choice, to really check if gaming is bad for me, and i didn't played a lot for 3 years.

what happened was that i found joy in very old games like morrowind, oblivion, and i discovered games like rimworld and kenshi, and even dwarf fortress.

so games are like a good book: if you use old PC, and don't go to online games that can be addictive, you can find games that require some imagination from your side, and play them and have a great fun.

it's like a detox of gaming: you force yourself to a situation you can't play high graphic games, and you find that the true joy from games is like the joy from books: it's in your ability to imagine.

My Dad plays WOT and now that he is retired , its quaility time he spends playing it , altough he sucks but he spends funny time

 

I was stuck with Sea Of Thieves.
Decided to give it a try, and after three days of constantly thinking about it, and playing it in the evening, till 2 am, I realised I was wasting my precious time.
Since I started to broke my porn addiction, my brain just started to refuse any other form of addiction.
Somehow the dopamine receptors rebooting didn't want any other form of bad entertainment, and left me with books, studying, watching films, going to the beach with friends,
making trips with family and friends, getting me new friends.

 

do you use any porn filter to block porn on you devices ?

 

for sure. I blocked every keyword with Cold Turkey, even the site to uninstall the program,
I use IOS parental control to block every wasting time app and some triggers, even all porn sites and some other specific ones.

Then nothing else, I could block every temptation, and now I am free.

That statement is wrong at so many levels that I don't even know where to begin with...

Surely is not, but it helps you a great deal in life to do whatever you want to do.

It is, because whatever you do in life, you want to be good at it, from playing a game to some real stuff.

That's just yourself giving yourself a pat in the back without no reality behind it, they would love having your luxuries, and not having to "waste their time" having to walk 3h to get water just to survive, but to waste their time just for the sake of it? You have no way to prove that other than in your head to feel better with your own timewasting.

If you don't see wasting time as a very harmful thing, as you cannot get it back in any way, there is no much more to discuss, you do you mate, you do you.

 

know what is more time wasting than playing video games? going in a porn recovery forum and arguing how playing video games is time wasting.
