Hi Stylis162, Good on you for making such good progress. As far as I understand, you're asking if it's OK to M just occasionally, right? Of course there are a lot of different opinions about that. However a general guideline is that if we have doubts about whether something is fine or not, then it's probably not just fine. In this reply, please know I'm not judging you or anyone, because I know it's tough and confusing, and obviously since I'm here on NoFap I'm not even good at following my own advice, but I do think that even occasional M is unhelpful. Although the analogy about the diet makes some sense, it's possibly not quite right, because doing M every now and then simply isn't the same as eating something unhealthy every now and then. M is far more addictive, which is especially problematic for us here on NoFap who easily fall back into extreme and addictive MO/PMO behaviours. As well as that, M often involves fantasizing, which is like using another person just to get a dopamine rush just for yourself..that's not OK, even if only sometimes. That's actually a big weakness of mine, so I'm working on it. And even if a fantasy isn't about a real person, still it trains our brains to treat other people merely as sexual objects, rather than as living breathing people, who should be taken care of holistically and share all aspects of life with, not just the sexual. Because it's so addictive and so tied up with fantasy, it's also isolating and often makes us more lonely and self-focussed generally, even if just done sometimes. There are plenty of other reasons, too, you possibly know already anyway, but yeah these are my experiences, and most others here seem to say the same. So just saying what I think.
