    Hi all,

Writing this as I am getting closer to another 30 day hardmode streak, however I quite often get to around this point and realise my sexual imagination (well tbh my imagination in general) is lacking and uninspired. It is part of the 'flatline' symptoms I suppose, but I am looking at ways to try and re-activate my imagination, if that is possible....

    My Goal:

Get to a point where P is not required whatsoever and I can harness the power of imagination and sexual fantasising. Should i choose to MO, I want it to be natural arousal from within my mind. If I don't MO, I want to be able to harness and control that state of arousal.

Currently on a semi-long term flatline, with effects of PIED.

Anyone else seeking the same goal?
Anyone got tips for practices to train the imagination, to try to restore it??

    Thanks and Kudos in advance!

    Hi Longtime,

    Congratulations on your long streaks.

Your post grabbed my attention because I've tried to do what you are asking about. I have a very active and powerful imagination, all fueled by porn. It's like watching porn in your mind, and substituting one for the other never worked for me. Be careful.

You have to be honest with yourself and know what your ultimate goal is.

    Good luck.

I could possibly help you with imagination, but before I try I'd like to know more about why you want to do this? I have an active and vivid imagination that I've used for erotic fantasy, and I must say it has not served me well. Porn through a phone or laptop is ridiculously easy to access, but you can put blockers on the phone, you can put the laptop away. I can't remove my brain, so I have access to that stimulus and all the negative effects that go with it all of the time.
At a basic level, it's not P we're addicted to so much as dopamine overdose on demand. P is a just a tool to access that overdose, so if you take the necessity for that tool away, you'll be in almost as bad shape as you were before.

    @Meshuga thanks for the reply.

I've seen a lot of posts on here which suggest imagination is a negative thing. I find it curious, because for me I feel as though my brain has been saturated with graphic sexual imagery and the compulsive M habits that accompany it.

I feel like there was a time long ago where I just had to think about a pretty girl I liked, and i'd be aroused, erect, and ready to go. Granted, the teen years are different to the adult brain.

I guess i am just wondering if it's possible to recreate that state. For me, a longterm sufferer of PIED, I would love to be back in a position where 'natural arousal' occurs through normal processes (i.e sexual chemistry and 'imaginative' desires to be with a female sexual partner (without any P-induced desires floating around my brain).

Does that kinda make sense? Feel free to DM if you have the time
    Thanks for reading

Yeah that makes sense. Natural arousal can be had if you detox from all things sexual long enough. It's not that sex itself is toxic, but if you're addicted to P to the point where you have ED, you've been pickling your brain in the stuff and it has no sense of what is normal. Most cultures encourage males to be hyper-sexual, and teens, who want to grow up and "be a man," soak that up. I don't think that's how our bodies are designed to work. Get away from it, reboot, and give yourself another try at romantic relationships later, when you can develop a more balanced approach.

Why to jump from bad thing to less bad when you can concentrate what you really want.

I believe only benefit from masturbation without porn is blood circulation in that area. And imagination without porn might be not harmful to your health, because you can't reproduce porn stream in your mind. But look at it this way, if you learn your brain that you can reach orgasm by your imagination, then what your mind do next time real woman passes you in a street? If you have any kind of resistance to start conversation, then brain will always offer you easier option at your options list. So you can end up masturbating with your imagination instead of getting her number and setting up date.

saying you want to quit pmo but embrace sexual fantasizing is like saying you quit alcohol but embrace alcohol injections.

pmo is both psychological and physiological habit. actively doing sexual fantasizing is like mental masturbation. this is even worse than just using the hand for masturbation. it effects your mind and spirit and will leave you worse off than pmo.
