Hi! I'm sharing some tactics that I found be to be very helpful.

    • Installing porn blockers
    • learning about addiction www.yourbrainonporn.com was super helpful
    • Limiting smartphone use
    • Keeping in touch with family and friends
    • Workout, cold shower, meditation
    • planning out your day and working out the plan
    • Journal- helps in identifying triggers so you can address it deliberately
    • Persist. There will be times when things are going good and things are going crap mode. Endure the winter.
    Wish you victory! Cheers! :)

  4. For me, one of the best tactics was to create a journal. In the journal i just write my thoughts and feelings about anything and everything. It also includes columns on things I need to do daily to live my best life and the goal is to check "Yes" everyday in those columns. One of the columns is titled, "Did you stay away from porn?" The goal is to put a "Yes" in that column each day and avoid the disappointment in myself if I have to put a "No" in that column. Really it's just about an accountability tracker to myself and seeing those columns just line up with "Yes" everyday.

Porn blockers - Even though you can disable them, they initially give you a second to think about what you're doing before you relapse and that makes all the difference.

Also stay way from meaningless websites and social media without good reason.

I have found those things to be quite helpful too. I believe I just need to be more dedicated to following those measures. Thank you for taking the time to share your insight mate, it is much appreciated :)

Quite a good approach indeed mate! I have recently started a daily journal too. I have been doing it weekly, but I think daily journaling is way better :)

Thank you! I think sometimes we lie to ourselves by saying that "I'll just peek once" or "I'll start from tomorrow", but if we are honest with ourselves, we know that it's just another excuse to go back to the bad habits

Those are some good points mate! I try to remind myself daily about breaking the mindless social media use. I have been improving, but I'll have to be more strict. Your point about the porn blockers is good too. If we have easy access to porn, we tend to fail quite easily too.

Thank you very much for your advice. I have been doing something similar too and it has been quite helpful :)

  13. I know some of you might feel this doesn't belong here, but I think it's worth saying anyhow: I deliberately avoided porn for the same reason that I have never drunk alcohol or smoked a cigarette--I knew it could be addictive and did not want to risk starting down that path. As we say in English, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."

While I've never been a porn addict as others postings here, this might still be good advice for some here who are considering going deeper down that path. Draw a line and say to yourself "I will not pass this point." Period.
