Today I went through almost six hours of p0rn, and at the end I felt like was the most amazing thing I've ever experience. It makes me thing about my future, because for me this is too great, too much pleasure. But it's a bad thing because I left my last two jobs because I didn't want to go to work to watch p0rn. I've studied different thing and left them because I wanted to stay at my room watching p0rn. P0rn has destruyed many important thing I valued. But I can't resist sometimes, it's too much pleasure I recieve from it. So I don't know how I'd overcome this.
This week I've been doing it three times during hours. But before that I was clean for 18 days aprox. Sometimes I feel like I can get over it, until I fail and feel like my progress is going to the floor.

Freedom from the grip of slavery to porn addiction is much more enjoyable - life is richer and more meaningful not living in a sewer, wallowing in shit.

When I'm clean for more than two weeks I feel awesome, but I fail over time. So I'm not sure if I am capable of over coming this addiction. How did you made it, man? Would you say you're not a porn slave anymore?

Yes, but I'm much older than you. We didn't have this "Nofap" site when I was your age. It took me 6 years here to learn recovery tools, principles of addiction, behavior modification, and then final determined action once and for all. I wish I had had these tools sooner.

One great place to start is with George Collins' book Breaking the Cycle. It teaches one to separate the addict self from the healthy self, so that whenever the addict self is lurking in the shadows of the mind or heart, one can shed a spotlight on him right away and call him out. Personifying the addict self also helps one see his reality much better; otherwise, the addict self become a nebulous, mysterious mist that floats by, never caught or identified in action. When the addict self is caught, especially at the start of his activity, it's much easier to nip him in the bud before he bites one like a snake, anesthetizing one's decision capacity to say "no" to addiction - and he's such a scaredy cat, that he instantly flees when caught and reprimanded.

Also, continue to employ you counter with clear goals as you have been doing. Also, use your personal journal to document your successes and failures, but also your struggles and hurdles along the way. Others will eventually follow your progress and give you other tips and advice of strategies that got them by, similar to your own struggles. Keep reading others' journals yourself, but look for those journals that are serious about recovery and are learning along the way, not foolish journals with foolish or nonexistent goals, which are just a waste of time.

    Best wishes!

I know it's more enjoyable to watch.. But can you sacrifice all your needs, jobs, studies, family and future for that satisfaction?
Don't you want to get married and have kids in your life?or do something big?
Get out of that filthy cult of porn browsing it's not too late...
I'm sure this thing literally push you into anxiety depression OCD and many more mental problems..
If you keep watching this.. It will effect your erection badly..

YES there are greater pleasures, deeper more sublime and more lasting ones

while p will wipe your tears in the moment, it will bring more of them soon after,
it makes you weak, unmotivted, and devours your time like a cookie monster,
but if you have vacum in your life that needs fullfiment, and you don't strive
to make that fullfilment, p tube will swallow you whole, and will digest you
throughly through its entire snake way all the way till you be flat and
deflated, deprived of vital essence and squeezed out on the pile of mediocrity on the other end.

    Technically speaking, no, there's not.

And that's something you need to be keenly aware of.
Because if you go seeking to find the same level of pleasure that porn brought you, you'll be disappointed.

But you shouldn't be seeking pleasure. You should be seeking joy. Let me explain.

(By the way, let's all be real here... you don't need to type "pr0n" instead of "porn". We all know what you mean. And it's not a bad word).

Now back to your question. To be a little more specific, you should ask: is anything more pleasurable than porn?

    Nope.

Porn is like cocaine. It directly targets the pleasure centers of your brain. Is there anything more pleasurable than a cocaine high or a meth high or a heroin high?

No. There's not. Take it from me. I went through a period where I tried all the hard drugs 15 years ago.

There is no more pleasurable feeling than a drug/porn high, because those things directly target your pleasure centers. But there are far more joyful feelings. Relationships, meaningful work, social experiences, being in nature, reading a good book or watching a good movie.

And those are the ones that matter. And those are the ones that last. Pleasure makes you high, but there's always a price to pay—there's always an accompanying low.

Do you have withdrawals after seeing a great movie at the theater? No. Do you have withdrawals after going on a hike? No.

That's the great thing about joy. Joy doesn't have a crash, or withdrawals, or a negative effect on your life. It's quite the opposite. Joy fills your life with happiness and meaning.

    Joy
can underpin your life and give you peace and meaning. Just pleasure can't do that. It can only rob you of those things. And the nice thing about joy is it brings its own healthy pleasure with it!

Pleasure targets just a single area of your brain: your dopamine system. And with repeated pleasure-seeking, your brain is depleted of dopamine so not only can you not experience pleasure as much as you used to, you can't even experience joy.

You turn into a sad person.

Joy targets many different places in your brain, but especially your serotonin system, which is what enables healthy sociability and relationships. And as the icing on top, joy targets your dopamine centers too (but in healthy amounts).

Seeking pleasure first is a bit like going to a casino. You stand the chance to make some good money at first, but ultimately you'll end up down a dark path and possibly broke. On the other hand, seeking joy is a bit like finding a good stable career and making money slowly. You might not immediately see huge gains, but overall you're going to be much happier.

So ask yourself, do you want a life that's full of joy and the healthy pleasure that accompanies it? Or a life full of pleasure but devoid of joy?

You have to say no to compulsive pleasure-seeking, which includes porn, drugs, smoking, drinking, etc. If you can learn to say no to these things, you'll be handsomely rewarded in JOY.

Your brain will be balanced, and the dopamine you need will be distributed evenly throughout your life instead of in punctuated overdoses.

And don't forget—you can still get all the pleasure of an orgasm within a committed relationship (hopefully a marriage)! And if you don't have that yet, that's perfectly ok. You can get it. And avoiding compulsive behaviors and working on yourself WILL bring it into your life.

    Stay strong.

Visualize your future self smiling next to a loving partner. Let that visualization be your guide.

    Trust the process.

I write all the time about finding your purpose in the Christian section. I do believe that purpose plus joy is better than porn.

I'd agree there isn't anything more enjoyable than porn, but only in the short term. Long term it makes everything worse. What I've come to realize is I've spent my whole life seeking pleasure and enjoyment, while running away from anything remotely uncomfortable. Drugs, alcohol, porn. It has not worked. So maybe trying to feel good all the time isn't the answer. I can only speak for myself, but I think I need to get comfortable with boredom and being uncomfortable. and not expect to feel good all the time.

I like this. I would also add that we should be seeking long term satisfaction as well as joy. Long term satisfaction comes from things that improve our life such as having positive relationships, overcoming challenges, major accomplishments such as finishing college, and so on. All those things require sacrifice, they are difficult and come with uncomfortableness.

Porn may provide short term satisfaction. Not even short term really, it is only pleasure in the very single moment until it is over when it is immediately fleeting (and then the bad feelings come).

Great point and I can fully relate. Aggressively seeking pleasure and avoiding pain. Not a way to live. Agreed I need to be able to live in some discomfort and being bored. Do I always need to get the high highs?

I always think of this line from Mobb Deep, a pretty hardcore rap group from 90s NYC: in the context of selling/using drugs, the very sarcastic “it’s only right feeling higher than an airplane, right?”

I mean, really, do I need to get so high (and PMO is just another way to get high)?

Many kind folks have already given great responses in the comments. I'd like to add to the chorus. IMHO, porn (and all types of drugs, etc), very often serve the purpose of an escape from something.

I used to think the same thing as you - that the feelings I got from porn were the greatest feelings in the world.

But over time, I begin to see that every time I had a craving for porn, it was always preceded by my wishing to avoid some feeling internally (it could be a feeling triggered by an external event, but the feeling, of course, is always internal). Of course, these feelings would usually be negative (e.g. anger, frustration, helplessness, grief, etc) or otherwise we wouldn't need to avoid them.

Knowing this help me to address those feelings directly, since I'd have to address them regardless whether I used porn or not. (It helped that I'm generally a pretty practically-minded person.)

Put another way, I saw that porn itself had no inherent value, and it wasn't porn making me feel good.... it was the absence of the annoying thoughts I wished to avoid that made me feel good.

  17. Hard drugs are more enjoyable than porn, if you see life just as pleasure then you're f**k. Self control and denying pleasure is essential in being a strong man.

Truthfully I even think PMOing is usually pretty boring, if you're fairly frequently PMOing anyway. But I do believe it is likely the most thing I enjoy doing while I am at home. So watching tv, movies, gaming, listening to music, reading, learning something new. I'm afraid the thrill and enjoyment I get from PMO massively wins over any of these for me.

But again, if I was PMOing frequently, I would still usually even think the PMOing is extremely boring. It's more if I haven't PMOed in a while, and then end up PMOing, the thrill and enjoyment from it is massively much greater than any the other activities I mentioned.

Once you abstain from supernormal stimuli for a long time, including constant social media and YouTube, your brain will reset and find pleasure in the simplest of things. You won't need to go look for it - it'll be all around you. That's one sign that you're successfully resetting.
