I personally probably wouldn't. Just because IMO masturbation is a bit of a slippery slope that leads to just watching porn.

 

I'm on a 90 PMO reboot because I am seriously addicted to live sex webcams and feel it is the only way for me to go but if you can abstain from watching porn and still masturbate it is up to you. Unless there is a particular reason you want to stop masturbating. However the temptation to watch porn once you are hard or even thinking about masturbating could be very strong, so it might be better to abstain from both for a while until you have the porn use under some kind of control. Having said that you could try masturbating and using your imagination and see what happens. Good luck

Personally, masturbation makes me relapse severely. I usually then have a downward spiral and I hate myself afterwards.

I've read articles that discuss the health benefits etc. but I suppose that is if you are not addicted to PMO. My advice is therefore to not masturbate unless you are really sure that it won't lead to a relapse.

 

I consider masturbation using my imagination as being not much different from porn, but that is going to depend on you and your goals.

 

I am not going to say it is bad, but I think it is better to not do it. It isolates you. Also, your brain works like a scale with pleasure-pain. If you give him pleasure without effort, then you will have less desire to do things that requiere effort.

I would argue it's fine in general, but with a few noteworthy exceptions. The first exception is pretty obvious: If masturbating without porn leads you back to porn anyways due to a chaser effect or otherwise, then obviously you should not do it. The second exception is, if you can't regulate your masturbation even if its without porn; jerking off eight times a day is probably still a pretty bad idea even if you don't use porn to do it. The third exception is if you have to imagine porn-like fantasies to get off, since that is not that different from actual porn.

That all being said however if you can manage to stay off masturbation for a while as well, it would probably be benefitial to the speed of your recovery. So, as a general rule of thumb I would say, masturbate without porn only when you feel like you can't think straight anymore. If you would do it just out of boredom or for fun, try not to do it.

When I have a good streak going (20+ days) I start thinking about this too. It usually happens because I find no other outlet for my sexual energies.

You have such a strong well of power inside of yourself, and if you're able to transmute that into working out, hobbies or creativity, you would be much happier! Just think about how strong urges can get if you don't release in some time. That is real power, that your own body can produce! Finding ways to harness that is really important when going for the 90 day challenge.

Define your goals eg - trying to get 1 hour a day back not watching porn.
Have you gone 7+ days no porn? Are you relapsing to porn because of masturbating?

If you can successfully meet your goals by cutting out porn, and masturbation is not leading you back to porn, it would be ok.

I’ve never met an addict who could quit P while still M’ing. Even guys in a relationship usually have to quit S for about 50-60 days in order to truly quit P long term.

You have to learn how to live without S before you can learn to live with it.

 

Some men can't M without P. I myself can MO without P. I guess I'm an exception.

M has some chance of infection I believe, with or without P. I make sure that my hands are clean.
