Is it a slip only?

I just fapped and I'm feeling horrible about it. But should I call it a slip or a relapse?

I just watched today and then fapped but I didn't watch it the past 62 days

  4. Sorry to hear that! I always consider it a reset is if it happens once, a relapse is if it happens multiple times.

Congratulations on going 62 days! That’s impressive! Try not to look at it as “starting over”. You’ve made a lot of progress and are nowhere near where you used to be when you just started.

There are a few ways you can handle this:

    1. Reset your counter

    2. Don’t reset your counter, but just add a note in your signature with the date of your latest reset. You are 62 days into your recovery with only one reset - keep going! You’re doing awesome!

Sometimes resetting your counter makes it seem like you’re starting completely over with your recovery and it decimates all hope of recovery. Nothing could be farther than the truth. You have made a lot of progress and this is only one step backwards. As long as you have the right mentality and you don’t take resetting your counter the wrong way, you can reset it back to day zero. Just my two cents.

Resets and relapses are a part of the recovery process. The important thing is that you learn from this reset. Where did you go wrong and what will you do differently next time?

Don’t let this make you feel bad just pick urself up, learn from it and continue with your Nofap journey.

  6. It really depends on what your goal is. Is your goal to keep away from watching porn? Is it just to stop fapping? Is it both?
My goal is to stop watching P AND to stop fapping so I would have relapsed. But I would start over and try again. I would learn from what happened and try to stay on guard for the next time.

While it's understandable to feel down, I think it's important to remember that not all progress is lost. Those 62 days aren't completely thrown in the garbage.

When I PMO'd after 48 days I accepted that my "streak" was over. But I also bounced back and felt like how I did before the PMO session after about 7 days. So the work I had previously done helped me catch back up/recover. Of course not everyone is the same but this was just my personal experience.

I find that when on the fence, a full reset of my counter helps curb the urge to do it again. At least for a while. The progress is not gone! Just a small setback.
