Looking for a Web Blocker

Hello! So I just read a chapter of Atomic Habits and Clear talked about something called a commitment device which is basically a choice that someone can make now that locks in better behavior in the future. It’s also apart of the inversion to the third law of behavior change which is to make a bad habit difficult to engage in.

So to implement this behavior, I installed web blockers on my computers. Which prevent me from going on certain sites. The blocker that I have now is called BlockSite which has a neat thing where it automatically blocks pornography websites. However, the problem I’m having is that this extension requires me to pay a subscription in order for me to block more than like… 3 websites or general categories of websites.

Because I’m obviously very frugal with money and am generally wary of paying subscriptions (Small incremental costs can accumulate over time as a lot of us know. This is also the case of habit forming) can anyone recommend to me a free web blocker that can both block access to websites as well as limit the time spent on websites. Preferably one that has either a one time purchase or is free?

 

You have a point and I have been considering spending the money on a blocker it. But still, money is money and I am a frugal person. So I am considering my options and asking before I make a purchase.
