Is ASMR pornography?

Got curious what asmr are so i wanted to figure it out by myself.
Didn't have any headphones so I just used the speaker of my smartphone, and to my notice, I stumbled on videos on YT and my suggested feed was mostly sexual oriented like 'hands free orgasm asmr'. As I began listening to a female voice I got a boner and felt quite pleased by moans and suggestions forva few minutes.

Didn't listen all of it, I skipped parts here and there to the point that I closed it.
Didn't touch myself even though I might have fell for it if I kept going.

So now what? Is this a setback or relapse?

  2. I went through a phase of being into ASMR during my first few reboot attempts. I don't think I'd call it porn as long as they aren't talking about sexual things. It may be a good intermediate step for you to learn to stay calm, which is important for fighting an addiction. I mean, not everything that makes you feel good is a crime.

However, it does also follow a similar pattern of porn in the long run. While it can be useful like I described above, make sure you aren't getting some kind of pleasure from it that you could instead get in the real world with some interpersonal effort. In the sense that ASMR is a specialized therapeutic technique, I think it's permissible for what you might want to use it for. In the sense that it is something in the computer vs. out in the real world that is making you feel good, it is not okay. So make sure you're getting something from it that only ASMR can give, and not something that a girl whose voice you like could give you if you just had the balls to talk to her.

Speaking of all this haha, there's actually a girl at my local coffee shop whose voice gives me the ASMR response. I think it might have something to do with her eye contact too. I can't even say I like her personality or find her physically attractive... but something about interacting with her makes my whole upper body tingly haha.

I wouldn't count it as a relapse, just don't be too hard on yourself. DO NOT reset the counter.

Now you know it turns you on, STOP listening to it. I was watching a pua video and all of a sudden, sex noise came up. It's not my faught so I didn't reset the counter. I was extremely turned on and knew at that moment my ED was definitely PI.

Stay away from things that turns you on unless it's you're GF. I have no idea if it's good or bad but, I would stay away from it

  4. ASMR is nice, nowhere close to porn. But thats my opinion.

  5. If you gotta ask, you better reset! It is definitely a p/sub, so decide based on that.

    So not entirely pornographic?

I didn't act upon it. And almost 60 days went down the drain?

  7. Well, I don't know what was seen and heard on the particular clip you are referring to, so my answer is not definitive. That is why I advised you of a wide-ranging principle: if you've got to ask, the answer is probably yes.
From the little you do say, I formed the impression that it was a p/sub. That is, not something designed to overtly arouse you sexually e.g. nudity (which would be porn), but something that had that effect anyway. Now, the reason I suggested the final decision is yours, is because the criteria for a reset is individual. In other words, one member might regard a p/sub as requiring a reset, whereas another member may not. So, you must be the final arbiter.

I used to get ASMR, but from watching those videos I became immune to it. Actually its a good thing. Getting asmr from someone in real life isn't exactly a good thing. Its like whenever I was talking to an attractive women then suddenly I'm on drugs and go passive. It was something I didn't like. I'm glad I don't have it anymore.

    I'll be careful.

I don't think I would be able to digest the fact that I have to reset because of a p-sub, the're literally at every corner of a street and that I'm progressivly doing good with my recovery.
I think I'll keep on going without overthinking too much.

    Thanks as always igy.

  10. This is true. But here we are talking about intentionally seeking them out. As you say, you need to be careful in future. :)

Dang that's crazy to see others did similar things. When I first started attempting nofap etc, instead of porn I switched to asmr, until I realized it was just as bad for me. Honestly though, I don't think it's a bad idea if it's your very first time attempting to get rid of PMO. It's like the patches smokers use when they are weaning off smoking. But definitely asmr should be avoided overall

  12. I had a forum on this not too long ago https://www.nofap.com/forum/index.p...s-sensory-meridian-response-asmr-porn.103699/

I guess some people might see it as a PSUB. I think it has benefits like for meditation and relaxation which could help with rebooting. Depends on how you are reacting to what you are listening to and watching. As long as you are not fapping off i dont see it as a problem. Its like saying that you can never watch a video with a girl in it because you might get turned on which is a bit overdramatic. Are you really going to stop watching Youtube, Tv and Movies because you see a hot girl and it makes you horny? I dont think so.

Depends what you consider a setback and a relapse to be. When I have done this in the past, I count it as a partial relapse. If it arouses you, then it's porn. If you watched/listened/otherwise "imbibed" it, then you had a relapse to porn. It sounds to me like a small relapse, and while I would personally reset my counter, I see no problem with you leaving your counter as it is now, just know that ASMR is so heavily infected with (soft) pornographic content, that it is virtually impossible for most addicts to use any ASMR without relapsing.

You can't avoid all the suggestive material out there, but you can certainly avoid this and many others. It doesn't necessarily require going off the grid, but getting rid of the more suggestive material in your entertainment is a big help.

    True.
I really wanted to completely give in and start off fresh from day 1 (literally to PMO) but I have acknowledged the fact that this kind of material won't bother me again because of harmful it can be.

So instead of restarting, I decided to add an extra month to my recovery to stay on the positive side and use my willpower to get through this obstacle.

I'm afraid so I have intentionally and unknowingly stumbled on asmr.. I didn't know what to expect from it. And because I know myself quite well, I know that i would've binged fapping to porn if I had relapsed.

Obviously 'hands free orgasm asmr' is pornographic ASMR, however not all ASMR is pornographic. Rather only a small subsection can be considered pornographic. ASMR can be used for relaxation, or as a tool to aid in your nofap journey. However, it should be used at your own discretion.
