I don't know. As someone who is saving themselves until marriage, I think it is generally unhealthy not to masturbate. In this article here (http://www.womenshealthnetwork.com/sexandfertility/healthbenefitsofmasturbation.aspx), it actually says it's great for female health. The only reason I joined this site was to stop masturbation from consuming my life. However, in proper moderation, isn't it okay? What are your thoughts on this? I still will not watch porn.

I dont think I know enough to pass on a decision. Please seek advice of a gynaecologist or other medical professional...

Only you can answer this question. Can you masturbate in moderation? What do you consider moderation? Once a week, once a month?

I like to think masturbation can be part of a healthy sex life. But can it be for you? For me? For any of us here?

I am an addict. It takes great self restraint not to give in to the urges after masturbating the first time. I have on occasion stopped after one time. Mostly I haven't been able to. It all depends on the quality of the orgasm. Would you be able to stop after just one time? After a so-so orgasm? I know I can't. Hence, the binges I go through to feel satisfied enough to stop.

What is your history with masturbation? How often do you masturbate? Do you masturbate more than once a day? Once a week? Your answer lies in these questions and your personal history.

I want to say yes, because that is what I want to believe. That is what I hope for. But I am still an addict and can not trust myself to answer this question yet. When I have cured my addiction I will have my answer.

    I hope this helps,

    Geyser

@Geyser: That was an incredible answer. Thank you so much. You're very brave to share this with people. I have a lot of respect for you.
Honestly, I wouldn't consider myself an addict. I used to masturbate maybe two or three times a week. I'm hoping to cut that down now to once a week at most. I went 21 days without it, though!
The funny thing is it took me years to stop masturbating all together and I didn't do it for years. I had cut it out of my life. Then one day I accidentally stumbled upon a pornographic video and caught myself extremely aroused and unable to resist the urge. Since that day I resumed my old habit... Maybe I'll continue hard mode. I'm not sure. A fresh start is better than nothing, I guess.

Although about one or twice a year I dabble in porn, I'm fortunately not addicted to it, but I'm still a chronic fapper. I know that masturbation is a mortal sin, so even doing it in moderation is something I can't afford to do if I want to save my soul, yet I rarely go past 4 days without acting out again. I'm just lost in lust, but still trying.

I'm in the same boat as you. No chance for orgasm until marriage, which for me is a LONG ways off for me, maybe never.

You may choose to masturbate or not, but know that the claims of the health benefits are exaggerated. People desperately try to justify things they want to do, masturbation included. Please don't use them in your decision making.

This is a definition of addiction I've found: "Addiction is characterized by inability to consistently abstain, impairment in behavioral control, craving, diminished recognition of significant problems with one’s behaviors and interpersonal relationships, and a dysfunctional emotional response. Like other chronic diseases, addiction often involves cycles of relapse and remission."

Again, this is your choice, but please know that you ARE addicted. It may be one of the most common addictions in the world, but it is one.
