Just out of curiosity: has anyone tried the step-by-step approach?

    Like, at first limiting yourself to only use pics, then not using any porn at all, then just one fap a week and then NoFap at all or something like that? I'm definitely going straight cold turkey but I was wondering if someone tried and if so if it did actually work or not.

    I tried that and it straight up failed, I always ended up going back down the rabbit hole to extreme porn within a few days of trying. For me rationalisation is my worst enemy, I can absolutely convince myself something other than cold turkey is the right way, only to wake up from this delusion later on feeling like an idiot.

    Well, i kinda did it without intending: since i discovered your-brain-on-porn i quit porn entirely, and for more than 6 months i just fapped to facebook\instagram pics in the same frequency as with porn, i also still edged for hours, so basically, i kept fapping in the same intensity but just got much softer on the "jerking material", it didn't help and it even increased my PIED.
    Hence, 3 weeks ago i stopped MO completely as well (started my reboot) and I've seen some really nice progress with my PIED - I actually managed to have sex and orgasm with a partner after just one week when i couldn't even get it up before starting the reboot. I also get nocturnal erections and morning woods too.

    So from my experience, i strongly recommend going cold turkey.

    About a year ago I tried a step method I created. I immediately stopped using porn and went to stories only (felt porn was treating people poorly). The first month, I cut one day out of the week. The next 2, and so on. I removed days such as there was spacing (i.e. on month 3 I had M W F Su).

    It failed, I think in part because I didn’t work the underlying addiction problems such as why I was using PMO in the first place.

    I tried that. I started breaking my rules faster than I could change them.

    I think most addicts go through this stage, and I’ve yet to see a success.
