The K9 filter is a pretty popular one and it's free ... but I don't know how strong it is, or how easy it is to find loopholes in.

I use Covenant Eyes and it works amazingly, but I pay about $14/month for it--a small price to pay for being safe from viewing porn.

The great thing about Covenant Eyes is that they have filtering and accountability. Porn sites are blocked on my computer ... but even if I tried going to a porn site, not only would it block me, but I have three accountability partners who would get an e-mail letting them know I tried looking up a porn site. So I'd have to end up having a conversation and explaining why I went there.

It's been even good for what we call "p-subs", or content that's sexualized, but not porn. I was on Facebook and was browsing a page full of voluptuous women, and my accountability partners were all notified about it. I thought maybe I'd be safe and it would just show up as "Facebook". Nope. They were given the exact page I was on. That was embarrassing.

If I uninstall the software, whitelist or blacklist a site, or make any changes to the filter's settings, my AP's also get an e-mail about it. They've done a good job of making sure users of their software can't do things in secret.

If you guys use iPhones, look in my sig and you'll see a video about how to block porn 100%. (I made the video and it's my voice doing the narration :)

    Hope this helps!

Covenant Eyes could be a good idea. I do need to find someone I trust with that much information about my life, but if I continue to struggle, that may be next. I do wish iOS was setup so that CE could provide better protection than just a browser. That's not CE's fault though.

If you haven't watched my video about how to lock down an iPhone, I'd suggest checking it out. It's rock-f***ing-solid. Set it up the way I describe, and you simply will not be able to view porn on your Apple device.

With my phone, I have a couple dozen apps that do 99% of what I need my phone to do:
    • email
    • GPS
    • music
    • banking
    • weather
    • YouTube (although this can be a triggering app for obvious reasons)
    • etc
What I don't have is internet access, period. I can't get online and browse the web. For me, this has been a HUGE help in keeping me away from porn. I have an accountability partner in my SAA meetings who set my restrictions code for me. It's his PIN number, so he'll never forget it, and I never have to know it. I see him roughly once a week in our meetings, so if I ever need to update my apps, I just have him disable the restrictions temporarily, and then I let the updates download while we sit in our meeting.

I can't tell you how much of a difference it's made for me. Yes, you eventually need to get to a place where you're choosing not to view porn, even when it's available. But for me, I know my addiction can flare up in a way where "choice" is non-existent--I'll go to porn like I'm on auto-pilot. That's the hijacked brain for you. And in those moments, it's very comforting to know I can't view porn.

Help!!! So I tried to install Covenant Eyes but it is not compatible with my computer. It is Linux Mint with Firefox and Chrome. Can anyone tell me what to do? F@ck I hate computers. If I was good with them we prob wouldn't be having such a serious issue with PA.

Forget porn blockers .... They are useless.

Work on your mind, it's the real way.

I actually made sure that there is NO WAY accessing any p-content unless I reinstall windows again, even my entire phone is safe since I´ve deleted all brwosers and even the playstore (only possible if you boot your phone, meaning you recieve full admin rights).

Since then I am way more relaxed cause there is just no way for the deamon to screw me up :D
Since then I can easiely handle "triggers" and don´t relate them to sexual arousals.

I did install an extension for Firefox called "leechblock" that you can use to block websites, but also to block access to your extension settings for a certain time.
I also installed an extension that turns off the picture loading function, so no pictures are loaded while I browse the web.

I wouldn´t consider porn blockers as useless, you will lose the use of it after a certain while cause you´ve learned to control yourself, that´s how I would put it.

Use chrome beta, and uninstall all browser. Chrome beta has supervised feature that can block and monitor your internet history. But you must have someone to be your manager or to be superviser. Superviser can monitor and block any website from another devices.

Make two user in linux, one user for superuser, he allowed to install or uninstall program, and change configuration your linux. And the second user is you, you can't to install or uninstall program, and change configuration your linux.

So you need a partner that wannabe your manager in supervised chrome and as superuser in your linux. Choose someone that you'll be embarrassed if he / she knows you opened porn in your computer.

You can also install Squid proxy in linux, it allowed you block with domain and keyword. But you still need superuser, so you can't edit the configuration.
