3.5 years trying... Failed again @ day 26

Discussion in 'Rebooting - Porn Addiction Recovery' started by Light139, Sep 17, 2016.

  1. Hi all,

Just joined the forum after failing again @ day 26.

After 3.5 years trying to stop from a 15 years daily addiction to the porn (often 6 hrs edging) and multiple times of masturbation , i failed again.

The process is so incredibly rough with massive migraine and total lack of energy for first weeks yet to fail often around 30 days-ish.

I barely don't know what to say as this is just such a massive down moment again. Every time I turn out to be so stupid to fall for this again, it's crazy.

I hope by joining the forum, i will get extra motivation to finally get off this. Hope you guys are doing better then me here!

I have been trying for 6 years and still not out of this addiction. Learn from your relapses; write down the mistakes you make. That will help. Good luck!

  3. Thanks a lot. I think keeping a journal might be handy too. It's just so frustrating (as you know) because you go through such an ordeal each time

  6. Hey man,
After 3 years of failing. I get this addiction under control.
The biggest tip I can tell you is this: Go outside every single day to think about nofap/your life and wy you are doing nofap.

WY? Because your subconcious mind will keep telling you things you don't want to do. And be talking to it everyday you will eventually beat it. This is the method that got me to day60 ANd it's changing my life

  8. Thank you too for your good advice here!! I feel being member of the forum now might give me the last extra push (with all the extra advice of the forum members). Think will open a new thread of a journal and take it even more serious this time.

Must be amazing to be breaking free from this horrendous addiction / destruction of life spirit

Just because it took you longer, doesn't mean that you failed.
Those hours of edging are in the past, the worse part of your addiction (those 15 years) are done, you are here living in the now fighting against the last bit of your addiction, you are on your way to freedom. Do not give up.

Get up and try again, untill you succeed.

  11. Jazak Allah Khairan. Thank you all for giving me the energy to do this once for and all properly.

    May God bless you all

I know how you feel - I failed on day 21.
I think it's important to learn from the relapse so it won't happen again. I know from experience than Youtube isn't a great site for me when I'm triggered. I then shut down my computer and start to meditate (I can recommend the Calm app - it's guided meditation). Cold shower is also a great tool (I'm doing it every morning before school).

  17. Yes that's immediate tremendous down surge of dopamine leaving you in utter shame and disgust immediately after your failure ends. Somehow everything becomes SO clear in that split second, the realization of your screw up and how many days you thrown away again comes vividly clear to your mind.

  18. Ps: thanks for the tips of you all guys. Next round I will try to implement most or all of those.

I guess the reality is 1 step in that direction is the moment the addictions grabs your hand and drags you into that hole again
