New guy here, posted my introduction thread a few days ago: http://www.NoFap.com/forum/index.php?threads/new-guy.61874/

Short explanation of the reasons I want to reboot:
Like I said in my introduction thread I've been experiencing PIED some times when I've been with my girlfriend. I feel stupid, bad, ashamed, guilty, all those lovely feelings, but I still seem to find it hard to not (P)MO.
SO, after reading pretty much all I could find about it, rebooting seems like something I MUST DO.

I've tried to write down my reasons and rules as clearly as possible, as I know that will help me.

    REASONS
    1. To get rid of PIED ONCE AND FOR ALL.
    2. I agree what is said on the Rebooting page on this site: "There is little, if anything, redeeming about pornography. It is an unnatural superstimulus." Why do I do it then?
    3. The time I spend doing PMO (although not a huge amount of time) is not time that is "well spent". If I can both have a better sex life, and have more time on my hands for other stuff, why should I NOT reboot?
    4. I don't know if this is the result of PMO-addiction, but way too often I find myself "filling" a day with lying in bed/sleeping/PMO-ing when only I feel a little sick, while I'm not really sick at all. There are so many things that I want to do in my life, and I do this instead... what is wrong with me?
    5. Possibility of gaining the NoFap "SuperPowers"! :) I don't seem to have big problems with the things stated on the rebooting page, but still:
      1. More confidence = better!
      2. Increased sexual interest from others = better!
      3. Creative mojo = great!
      4. (More) social acuity = great!
      5. SO WHY THE HECK NOT?
    RULES
    • Duration: 90 DAYS.
      • START DATE: 14 march
      • END DATE: 10 june
    • Mode: PM (abstaining from porn and masturbation).
      • NO porn.
      • NO porn-substitutes; video. Images are allowed, but NEVER a ‘trance-like state’!
      • NO masturbation whatsoever.
      • Sex is allowed! :)
    PLAN
Not really sure yet what I should do after I'm done. Priority 1 is to reboot, 'be normal' and be able to have a good sex life. But I don't have any moral reasons not to masturbate, so I guess I won't not-masturbate forever. It's important though that I find the right balance; i.e., I don't want to relapse! So I'm postponing these decisions to when 10 june gets closer.

    JOURNAL
I want to write somthing at least every week; maybe I'll do it more often.

Some other notes to self; i.e., stuff I don't want myself to forget.
    'Extra' reasons:
    • If rebooters have difficulty abstaining from porn for seven days, it’s a pretty good sign that a full reboot would be beneficial.
    • [To] obtain a healthy sexuality where they prefer sexual interactions with people rather than a computer screen.
    Also important to remember:
    • Rebooters should be prepared for both the cool stuff and the not-so-fun stuff.
      • Fun stuff:
        • The Surge is a temporary boost in physical energy reported in males shortly after abstinence from ejaculation begins.
        • SuperPowers! Explained above,
        • Free time!
      • Not so fun stuff:
        • Urges!
        • Chaser effect!
        • Flatline!
        • Emotional ups/downs
    • The entire point of rebooting is that it changes your brain, allowing structures in one of the emotions centers to literally reshape themselves into a healthier system.
    • The best way to identify if you’ve rebooted or not is to assess whether you still experience the urges and sexual symptoms you had before starting a reboot.
    • Some rebooters will start with this 90-day challenge only to reevaluate towards the end that extending their challenge would be of benefit
    • We recommend that symptom-based rebooters start with a 90-day goal and reassess their symptoms.

All right, sorry for the long post. The last thing I want to say is that tips, comments, etc. are very much welcome!!

Good luck! Take one day at a time. Don't let your mind think 90 days will be impossible when you are going through withdrawals.

I'll join you with this Challenge, No Porn and No Masturbation until June 20th. This is my Big personal goal this year. I have been an addict for more than 10 years now.

I'll join you with this challenge! I have struggled with porn for 5 years and am ready to give it up in order to become more in tune with myself and the people I love. June 20th is a good start goal.

Excellent Lane! Let's keep this inertia going! It's day 2 for me. Neighbours where having loud sex yesterday, it was difficult not thinking about porn.
I'm trying to observe the feeling, the impulse instead of rejecting it. Like a mindfulness exercise. I will tell you how this strategy goes!

I hope you have a great week.

Okay, so long story short, after almost three weeks I reset, an relapsed :(((((((
I'm filled with guilt and self-hatred. I tjought I had enough willpower and self-disciplice, but apparently not. What I thought wouldn't happen to me; the chaser effect, happened.
The reason it took me so long to post is that I didn't have the courage or honesty to face that I had failed.

So I haven't decided what my new plan should be, but one thing I'm sure of is THAT I HAVE TO F-ING FACE IT (sorry, hope using that word is okay here). A few things:
    - I'll be more active on the forum next time
    - A shorter period is probably better to start with
    - A clear plan about what to do if a reset happens (I know now that I don't have infinite self-discipline)

    More tips are welcome!!!!

Will power alone is not enough for most of us. Addiction is a disease of mind; it's not something that can easily changed. So you must follow steps on how to conquer it. Good luck!

Okay so I've been doing pretty good, but also bad, again; thanks to a vacation with my girlfriend I got a 'free week' without PMO, and I managed to not PMO the week before that too, so now I'm at day 18. Sex has been good, so the PIED goes away quite quickly :) However, my goal is to reboot, so now I'm wondering how long i should keep doing my challenge. (this second time I didn't decide a clear number of days).
HOWEVER; I think partly because I didn't decide anything clearly, I just had the greatest urge ever to PMO, and just started PM, but didn't get to O yet. I read somewhere that PM is just as bad as PMO; I don't really remember why, though.

.......I still just want to O, anybody got any advice...? Seeing I totally relapsed when I reset last time; what can I do to not fall into that pitfall again?

Stop looking at P. I know it's hard but once you stop give your brain 10 seconds of doing something else and you'll forget! Sometimes I just go outside and stand there. So you're not trapped inside hidden where your brain can play tricks on you. I know it's easier said than done. Good luck!
