Hello to all the people of this forum, I'm GetLyfed!

This week has been one of the best of 2018 for me because I changed.. changed to better.
Using strategies to use the best of myself, I destroyed lots of bad habits and created good ones instead.
But I'm still not perfect, I fall... cry... and don't even think about giving up.

I'm motivated, always been like this, I know that for my dreams to be true I need to be the best of myself right now, and my dreams are not easy.
I dream big since a kid, thinking about one day seeing a million dollars on my bank account and my family proud of me, I want to make them proud... not being a piece of shit like I was, not doing anything. I was not at the right path.
I'm just a student, my parents always helped me and I want to thank them for it, I have a bad past and I know they suffered a lot growing me up.

    I'm not new to NoFap!
I discovered NoFap on november of 2017... yes, NoFap November, I know It's all just a marketing thing to bring more people to porn services at december (Destroy Thingy December), but It opened my mind at how bad I was addicted to PMO and how I couldn't last a day without it.
At NoFap November, I accepted the challenge seriously... and failed... miserably... on my very first day.
Angry at myself, I couldn't believe I was this bad at breaking my limit, so I was interested at getting out of my comfort zone. As I'm researching about self-improvement, I discovered the NoFap and decided to check it out.
I've been fapstronaut for 5 months now, just lurking, failing and getting up again,

Best streak is 6 days... not that much for 6 months, but I was just 'testing'.
    Current streak is 4 days.

    Loving this community.
    It's time to quit PMO.
Because this is my first message I don't have experience with writing threads, sorry about the format.

Thanks for coming to NoFap. I'm glad you decided to start using the forum. There are a lot of people who come to this site but don't participate in the forums.

  3. Hi. Welcome to forum!

Make sure you create a personal journal thread in Reboot Logs section and blog there on a regular basis. As well as just generally be active participant in various forum discussions. I recommend this to everybody new here because it's the major thing that helped me when I was first starting. Just lurking on forums, reading and learning is great. But it usually is so much more powerful to engage. It helps to keep us motivated and accountable when we are active part of community. And keeps this in front of our minds so we don't forget about importance of it and slip away in our old habits. Sharing is also therapeutic. This is a major reason why AA meetings work so good. But that was developed before internet era. These days we can get most of the same benefits online through communities like this. So don't underestimate the power of active participation.

I would also like to suggest you to look into mindfulness meditation. It has helped me personally tremendously to learn how to deal with urges and triggers. It takes a while to get good at it and notice results, so you need to be consistent with it, but once you do it's very powerful. It has been used by sages for thousands of years to deal with various issues of the mind. And in recent decades the science is also catching up to what ancient sages have know for centuries. Meditation these days are widely used as very effective tool by psychologists for treating addiction and by neurologists for supporting recovery of the brain. It is a great exercise for the brain the same way as jogging is great exercise for the body. Check out this Ted talk, it gives a good idea of what's it about when it comes to philosophy. As far as practical side of it there is this awesome smartphone app called Headspace for guided meditations to get you started.

Wish you lot's of strength and success in your reboot journey!

Thank you, the forum is amazing! and yes, I noticed not many people participate, but I'm happy I stopped lurking.

Thanks for the advice! I do want to start participating more on the forums but I'm afraid I will get too addicted to it...
I meditate for a long time now and definetly helps with the urges!

    Thanks people.
