I've been fapping to bondage material for about 15 years now, so this is a deeply ingrained habit that spanned the whole range of my formative years. Or put another way, those talons are in, deep.

I drew the connection between ED issues I was having and porn addiction more than a year ago, and in that interim, I have struggled tremendously with quitting. I've attacked it from a number of angles, setting minimum time periods between fapping, constantly trying to best my previous records. In that time, I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I've only managed to go about 5 and a half days, max.

It would be easy to get discouraged looking at the raw numbers, but the fact that I routinely go more than a day without fapping has to be a sign of progress over my addiction. (Can you really be considered an alcoholic if you can go 24 hours without a drink?) Even better, my relationship to porn has changed markedly. Where I used to view it as unproblematic, I'm starting to view it as a turn-off. Granted, I still relapse, all the time. But I remember when I drank a soda every day, without fail. Now I hardly touch it. I don't know: it feels like time is on my side here.

I've decided to just quit cold turkey. While I've made conservative progress, I don't think it's enough. I really have to go for a huge milestone now: I'm 26 hours in, and I feel pretty great. I know there will be challenges ahead, but I've learned quite a bit about my own habits and inclinations over the past year of attempted reboots. For once I feel properly equipped to handle it :D

Thanks for all of the support, encouragement, and advice. I can't wait to keep on improving myself.

Keep it going mate. Sounds like you have a good plan in mind of how to deal with it this time around.

It also sounds like you have learnt a lot along the way which can now be used as ammo. I too have learnt along the way - such as problem times & situations which would most likely cause me to relapse etc.

I reckon you can push yourself to beat 5 & half days this time around!

Good luck. And most people aren't the regular 90 days free ones. We all struggle here and we can all do this together.

It's awesome you recognized you need to quit! Also know it's perfectly normal to have a lot of relapses before you get to the point of having long streaks. It's incredibly easy to relapse but know that if you keep at it you will eventually get over the hurdle and get the motivation to keep going. Before my current streak I probably relapsed over 30 times. It started off with 2 days, then 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 30 and finally now where I am at. Once you start distancing yourself from porn you begin to realize the harm it causes you.

That is actually quite good to know. Like I said, it's easy to get down on yourself, but if you actually think in terms of the progress those 2, 3 day streaks actually stand for, the outlook gets a little sunnier. I'm glad to hear that you had similar experiences, and that gives me hope that I'll be there someday too!
