Anyone else take on a different "Persona" when watching porn?

I ask this because it's sort of a phenomenon I experienced when I was deep into this addiction. It's like, when I began watching porn I would completely disconnect from who I was. Like I was on autopilot or something; not myself at all.

I think I did this because I didn't want to accept that I was addicted. I would take on this ignorant, apathetic persona because I could pawn off my actions and feelings onto something I wasn't connected to- if that makes any sense.

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

I think that's just hormones kicking in. It happens when you lose your head and go to far with a woman (Due to my religion, I don't believe in sex before marriage or making out, but I've messed up and made out with my girlfriend a few times. In these instances I felt like I was out of my mind and instinct took over). We are designed that when we get the hormones pumping/get aroused we kind of lose our head. Otherwise no one would go through the trouble of having children. It's a biologically built into us.

When we use porn our mind is confused, it thinks we are mating, but we are really not.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks!

My mind just goes blank, for the most part. I did have a very strong reaction to a scene in which there was physical aggression towards the female. I immediately felt disgusted and clicked to a different scene, but still felt distracted and angry about the violence.

I've sort of had a similar experience. It's like your mind goes blank until there's something drastically different in the content that snaps you back to reality.

This is explained on the website "yourbrainonporn". Basically your reptilian brain takes over your prefrontal cortex and you get a sort of tunnel vision for sex. This is why guys are so easily manipulated by sex and porn. They are completely abusing your vulnerable male brain. It's sad.

Reptilian brain? Please explain what you mean by that. @Limeaid

@PornNevermore. I have experienced that with nonporn things. I think the common thread is that your attention is drawn towards artificial stimulation. Our brains likely do not know how to process it, so there's a big conscious disconnect going on. I know that I can easily lose track of time simply by watching tv.
